This is a 6-month part-time assignment.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Provide swim lessons with encouragement and positive reinforcement to individuals of all ages and levels of the Drexel and campus community. </li><li>Enforce all pool policies while creating a welcome, safe, and inclusive environment for all individuals. </li><li>Begin and end lessons on time, remain after lessons to answer questions as needed. </li><li>Disperse and clean up lesson-related equipment. </li><li>Educate participants on proper technique and promote water safety. </li><li>Recognize and respond to emergencies in accordance with emergency action plan and prevent injuries by eliminating hazardous situations and behaviors. </li><li>Submit and maintain proper paperwork in a timely manner, including weekly swim lesson statistics. </li><li>Maintain appropriate dress for all lessons, including designated bathing suit while working with clients and Department-issued uniform while not working with clients. </li><li>Attend bi-annual All Staff Training and in-service trainings each term. </li><li>Other duties as assigned by the Coordinator, Aquatics. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of 1 year of experience. </li><li>Ability to commit to teaching at least 1 hour of lessons per week. </li><li>Previous swim instructor experience. </li><li>Proficient in swimming including freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and elementary backstroke. </li><li>Ability to work independently and maintain dependable and timely communication. </li><li>Strong verbal communication skills. </li><li>Excellent customer service skills. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification. </li><li>American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification. </li></ul> <p>Location</p> <ul> <li>University City - Philadelphia, PA </li></ul> <p>Additional Information</p> <p>This is a Part-Time temporary position classified as Non-Exempt.
