With manufacturing facilities in Iowa and Mississippi, New Way proudly builds trucks and parts for fleets in all 50 states, plus Canada, Latin America, and more.</p> <p>We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to oversee all EHS compliance efforts across our Iowa operations. This role is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety and environmental programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations. The ideal candidate will lead by example, drive a culture of safety, and support operational excellence while reducing risk and maintaining regulatory compliance.</p> <p>Your Role in Our Mission:</p> <ul> <li>Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including: </li><li>OSHA: Occupational Safety & Health Administration </li><li>EPA: Environmental Protection Agency (air, water, waste, chemical handling) </li><li>DOT: Department of Transportation (hazmat transport, vehicle safety, driver compliance) </li><li>Interpret regulatory changes and implement required updates to policies and procedures. </li><li>Maintain and submit all required reports and documentation (e.g., OSHA logs, EPA Tier II/SARA, SPCC, stormwater permits, DOT registrations, etc.). </li><li>Assist in developing and sustaining effective safety programs, including incident investigation, root cause analysis, job hazard analysis (JHA), and hazard control plans. </li><li>Conduct regular site safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments. </li><li>Lead emergency response and crisis management plans, including drills and training. </li><li>Assist in managing workers' compensation cases and work closely with the Director of EHS and healthcare providers on return-to-work programs. </li><li>Oversee environmental compliance related to air emissions, stormwater, hazardous waste, and chemical storage. </li><li>Develop and manage SPCC, SWPPP, and RCRA compliance plans. </li><li>Coordinate with environmental consultants and agencies during inspections, permitting, and remediation activities. </li><li>Ensure proper training and certification for DOT-regulated drivers and hazmat shipping personnel. </li><li>Maintain and audit DOT driver files, vehicle inspections, and drug testing programs. </li><li>Ensure compliance with FMCSA regulations, including Hours of Service and CDL requirements. </li><li>Deliver engaging EHS training to employees at all levels, including new hire orientation and periodic refreshers. </li><li>Maintain training records and evaluate training effectiveness. </li><li>Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) to cross-functional teams across manufacturing, distribution, and support departments. </li><li>Guide site-level EHS coordinators and partner with plant managers, engineering, and HR to drive compliance and safety culture. </li><li>Represent the company in EHS audits and inspections. </li></ul> <p>To Perform this Job Successfully:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related field (master's preferred). </li><li>Extensive knowledge of Iowa occupational safety and environmental regulations, including familiarity with Iowa OSHA (IOSH) and Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) compliance requirements. </li><li>In-depth knowledge of federal OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations and reporting requirements. </li><li>Certifications such as CSP, CHMM, or CIH are strongly preferred. </li><li>Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. </li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. </li></ul> <p>Why New Way Trucks?</p> <ul> <li>Family Owned: Experience a close-knit atmosphere where every team member is valued, and contributions recognized. </li><li>Midwest Values: Integrity, hard work, and community from the core of our operations. </li><li>Innovation at Heart: We are committed to staying ahead of the curve and continually investing in technology and our people. </li><li>Competitive Benefit Package: Competitive wages, comprehensive benefits, and opportunity for professional growth. </li></ul> <p>Are you ready to build your future with New Way?
