We recognize that a person's life experiences can provide firsthand knowledge relevant to being successful in the work that we do.</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for effectively engaging and coordinating volunteers at the Youth Resource Center, maintaining community and agency relationships, and assisting with the management of Volunteers of America, Utah's in-kind donation program. The role involves collaboration with program staff, Community Engagement Teams, and External Relations staff to ensure a positive volunteer experience and the smooth operation of volunteer activities at the center.</p> <p>Essential Duties</p> <ul> <li>Develop positive relationships with center volunteers and respond to volunteer inquiries for the agency by the end of the next scheduled shift. </li><li>Recruit, train, schedule, and manage volunteers for all on-site opportunities and events, including meals, donation room support, and other daily center activities. </li><li>Ensure and maintain the collection of volunteer data and required waivers to cover VOA UT's liability and uphold client interaction expectations. </li><li>Coordinate donation pickups and drop-offs within the community, serving as the point of contact for donors and partnering agencies. </li><li>Manage relationships with donors and help oversee the in-kind donation program. </li><li>Support the Kitchen Coordinator by scheduling food and donation pickups within the community and act as the point of contact for partnering agencies. </li><li>Maintain the kitchen and donation room in the absence of or in addition to the scheduled volunteer groups. </li><li>Assist External Relations with donor events and volunteer recruitment efforts. </li><li>Attend work as scheduled and arrive at the designated time. </li><li>Work must be performed on-site due to the need to provide direct client care. </li></ul> <p>Secondary Duties</p> <ul> <li>Reach out to the community to educate and procure donations/volunteers as directed by the Community Engagement Manager. </li><li>Act as the program's spokesperson at community events, representing the organization's mission and values. </li><li>Attend weekly Community Engagement team meetings and External Relations meetings, both on and off-site, as scheduled. </li><li>Contribute to a positive work environment focused on collaboration and teamwork. </li><li>Assist with other facility-related tasks as needed. </li><li>Support the planning and execution of special events. </li><li>Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and other organizational activities. </li><li>Perform other functions as necessary or assigned. </li></ul> <p>Requirements</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p> <p>High school diploma or equivalent required and 2 years of social services or homelessness-related experience or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the following knowledge, skills and abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Polished presentation and interpersonal skills with a strong customer service orientation focused on meeting or exceeding volunteer expectations. </li><li>Experience as a volunteer coordinator is preferred. </li><li>A bachelor's degree is preferred. </li><li>Obtain and maintain a current Utah Food Handler's Permit. </li><li>Work effectively and ethically with a diverse group of people. </li><li>Maintain appropriate, professional boundaries with clients, volunteers, and co-workers. </li><li>Exhibit clear communication skills and the ability to cooperate with others. </li><li>Consider alternatives and consequences before making independent decisions. </li><li>Driving is required: must be at least 21 years of age, possess a current driver's license, have a good driving record and be insurable on the agency's liability policy (no DUI within 5 years, no more than 3 moving violations in the past 3 years). </li><li>Comfortably interact in a professional manner with team members, a diverse workforce, donors, and outside agencies. </li><li>Enthusiastic, organized, detail-oriented, able to prioritize projects, and meet deadlines. </li><li>Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen. </li><li>The standard schedule is four 10-hour days, including one weekend shift. </li><li>Vacation coverage for team members is required as scheduled. </li><li>Ability to uphold professional boundaries, confidentiality regulations, agency policies and procedures, and interact in a professional manner with a diverse workforce, clients, and the public. </li><li>Willingness to accept supervision and direction. </li><li>Must be able to pass Utah-DHHS - Office of Licensing background screening and pre-employment drug screen. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands</p> <ul> <li>Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. </li><li>Ability to move around the facility, interacting with clients for extended periods. </li><li>Work is generally performed in the donation room or kitchen, with some computer and desk time. </li></ul>
