The Emergency Room Tech assists in the provision of patient care in accordance with State and Federal guidelines under the director of a licensed nursing personnel, P.A. and/or physician personnel.</p> <p>The ED Tech will work 3-12 hour shifts 10:00am-11:00pm with rotating weekends. (37.5 hours a week)</p> <p>As a Certified Great Place to Work organization, Stamford Health understands what it takes to attract talent to improve our workforce and support our mission, to that end we offer:</p> <ul> <li>Comprehensive, low-cost health insurance plans available day one </li><li>Wellness programs </li><li>Paid Time Off accruals </li><li>Tax deferred annuity and (403b) retirement savings plan </li><li>Tuition reimbursement </li><li>Free on-site parking and train station shuttle </li><li>Childcare partnership with Children's Learning Center </li></ul> <p>Responsiblities:</p> <ul> <li>Performs EKGs </li><li>Performs phlebotomy </li><li>Performs vital signs and pain scale </li><li>Places splints </li><li>Removes and applies simple dressings </li><li>Assists in applications of restraints as directed by physicians and registered nurses </li><li>Transports patients to CT, OR, floors </li><li>Documents appropriately in electronic medical record </li><li>Provides patient education as directed by RN </li><li>Participates as a member of PAMI team, Trauma team including specific responsibilities in the ED </li><li>Participates as a member of the Medic Alert team throughout the hospital </li><li>Stocks patient rooms, pyxis machines and supply carts as necessary </li><li>Assists in procedures under the direction of MDs and RNs </li><li>Completes temperature logs as requested </li><li>Participates in education and training of new staff and students </li><li>Participates in a supports performance improvement and risk management activities </li><li>Assumes role of Patient Care Attendant (as necessary) and completes required PCA log </li><li>Performs all duties with a focus on patient and customer satisfaction and in keeping with the Planetree philosophy </li><li>Minimum of high school diploma, GED or equivalent required. </li><li>EMT- B certification OR EMT- B certification in progress OR one + years as ED technician in similar setting and/or third or fourth year nursing student required with EMT-B certification. </li><li>Experience in hospital or medical setting preferred. </li><li>BLS required. </li></ul>
