<p>The City of Springdale is currently accepting applications for the position of Technology Support Specialist - Intern. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates in Information Technology who are seeking hands-on experience in an entry-level IT Help Desk environment. The selected intern will be responsible for delivering high-quality technical support across City departments through the installation, configuration, and maintenance of systems, hardware, software, and other related infrastructure. This role requires strong customer service skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently. Key Information: Hours: Minimum of 24 hours per week, up to a maximum of 29 hours per week. Schedule: All hours must be worked within regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., excluding most City holidays. Duration: This is an internship position; hours and schedule can be flexible to accommodate ongoing education or transition to the workforce. Ideal Candidate: A recent graduate with an educational background in IT, eager to apply their knowledge in a professional setting. Qualifications: A diploma or certification in Information Technology is required. A Bachelor's degree is preferred but not required. Experience or coursework related to audio and video equipment, applications, and techniques is a plus. Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach are essential. Resumes will not be accepted without an accompanying application. https://www.springdalear.gov/o/springdale/page/current-job-openings The City of Springdale is an EOE and drug free workplace.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ol> <li> <p>Provide good customer service to both internal and external customers; maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of their own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in providing technical support; support IT staff in responding to help desk tickets by gathering information, troubleshooting basic issues, and escalating more complex problems when needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Set up and maintain workstations; help prepare desktop and laptop systems for deployment by installing software, connecting peripherals, and applying standard configurations under supervision of IT staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with inventory and documentation; track hardware/software assets, maintain logs, and help update documentation related to system configurations or troubleshooting guides.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in system testing; help test systems or applications after updates or installations to verify basic functionality.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in user training support; help prepare training materials and provide support during user training sessions.</p> </li><li> <p>Support project work; participate in small-scale projects or project segments, such as organizing cables, labeling equipment, or setting up network drops under supervision.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain professionalism and confidentiality; follow department protocols for handling sensitive information and provide courteous support to all city staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other duties as required or assigned.</p> </li></ol> <p>SUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>None Indicated.</p> <p>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE</p> <p>Diploma or certification in Information Technology required; Bachelor's degree in related field preferred. Experience or coursework related to audio and video equipment, applications, and techniques is a plus.</p> <p>CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS</p> <p>Must be able to pass FBI criminal background fingerprint check and have the ability to comply with state and federal requirements for criminal justice information security standards and obtain necessary certifications.</p> <p>PUBLIC CONTACT</p> <p>Regular contacts with vendors, public agencies, and outside representatives.</p> <p>EMPLOYEE CONTACT</p> <p>Regular contacts within the department and with other city departments as needed.</p> <p>USE OF MACHINES, EQUIPMENT AND/OR COMPUTERS</p> <p>Must be proficient in the use of desktop, hardware and software (Access points, printers, IP cameras, peripherals, etc.)</p> <p>OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES</p> <p>Ability to utilize both internal and external resources to obtain information and data necessary to carry out routine assignments and special projects. Must have ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management and staff.
