<p>Roofers will set up ladders and safety equipment according to OSHA guidelines. The roof will be inspected for existing damage and safety hazards. The roofers will load roofing materials and equipment onto the roof using cranes, forklifts, and A frame hand hoists. The roofers will ensure that all materials and equipment are safely stored and secured. Roofers will recover or remove the existing roof using pitch forks or shovels. Roofing tear off will be transported off the roof by hand, wheelbarrows and material carts that are emptied into roll-offs or trailer. Must be able to train new roofers.</p> <p>The roof deck will be swept and inspected for any damaged decking, insulation, or underlayment. Damaged decks will be repaired or replaced. The roofers will install underlayment as specified on work order with plastic caps. Must install new pipe jacks with shingle stick. (All) shingles must be a 6-nail pattern. All hip and ridge must be installed with hand nails of proper length. All clean up must be performed daily. Fall arrest must be worn at all times.</p> <p>Physical Activities of this Position</p> <p>Climbing: Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, or ramps using legs, feet, hands, and arms.</p> <p>Balancing: Maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, or climbing on narrow, slippery, or uneven surfaces.</p> <p>Stooping: Bending the body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. Full use of lower extremities and back muscles is required.</p> <p>Kneeling: Bending the legs at the knee to rest on knee or knees.</p> <p>Pushing/Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force against something in order to draw, drag, disassemble or haul an object in a sustained motion.</p> <p>Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to higher position or moving objects horizontally from one position to another.</p> <p>Shoveling: Scooping materials or aggregate from a lower position to a higher position using legs, back and upper extremities.</p> <p>Physical Requirements of this position</p> <ul> <li>The worker is required to safely climb ladders and scaffolding using hands, arms legs and feet. </li><li>The worker must be able to lift/move up to 100 pounds occasionally and 50 pounds frequently. </li><li>The worker must be able to tear off materials for periods of up to six hours or more per day. </li><li>The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate power tools and machinery such as roof saws, handheld power tools, and nail guns. </li><li>The worker is required to have adequate auditory function to hear instructions and verbal safety signals. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions of this Position</p> <ul> <li>The worker may be subject to extreme heat. Temperatures may exceed 100 degrees. </li><li>The worker may be exposed to severe cold. Frost, snow, and ice may be present on roof surfaces. </li><li>Rain, snow, sleet, hail, damaging winds, and lightening may occur on the roof at any time. </li><li>The worker may be exposed to fumes, dusts, mists, and vapors. Respirators may be required on some projects. </li><li>The worker is subject to the hazards of working at heights and proximity to moving equipment and machinery. Safety harnesses are mandatory </li></ul>
