Smith is headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with approximately 12,000 employees at operations in the United States, Canada, China, India, Mexico, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.</p> <p>Primary Function</p> <p>As the Manufacturing Engineer, you will performs advanced engineering tasks under limited supervision and help to mentor the engineering design team in development projects throughout the entire cycle from initial concept through completion.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Participate in industry groups. </li><li>Perform advanced engineering tasks under limited supervision. </li><li>Oversees all aspects of a significant engineering project, from start to finish, so that it is completed on time and within budget. </li><li>Develops an action plan and estimates requirements for resources-management, labor, materials, and time required to complete project. </li><li>Prepares monthly reports, detailing progress and costs for top management. </li><li>User of CAE tools such as Solidworks, MATLAB, LabView, Minitab, EES, CFD, FEA. </li><li>Develops and applies engineering standards and procedures, and provides advice on issues within the engineering field. </li><li>Analyzes and identifies causes of component failures. </li><li>Capable of providing technical solutions to help solve manufacturing issues or address customer field issues; has some familiarity with multiple operations. </li><li>Use team management skills to lead the design group during the conceptual phase of product development. </li><li>Conduct project meetings and prepare reports to communicate the status of the project within and beyond the project team. </li><li>Finish assigned engineering projects in accordance with customer specifications and within schedule and budget limitations, coordinating activities of engineering team, contractors, and vendors. </li><li>Lead brainstorming activities for specific needs. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field </li><li>3+ years of related work experience or training </li><li>6 sigma or FMEA experience a plus </li><li>Excellent analytical and organizational skills; solves complex problems. </li><li>Experience leading Kaizen related or Continuous Improvement Activity </li><li>Ability to analyze and resolve issues quickly through root cause analysis </li><li>Strong communications via written and oral </li><li>Knowledge of SAP and MRP systems is beneficial </li><li>Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques </li><li>Proficient in Microsoft Office, Access, Excel, Power Point and AutoCAD </li><li>Excellent written and oral communication skills. </li><li>Uses team management skills to lead the design group during the conceptual phase of product development. </li><li>Conduct project meetings and prepare reports to communicate the status of the project within and beyond the project team. </li></ul> <p>We Offer</p> <p>Competitive compensation package and comprehensive benefits plans which include medical and dental insurance, company-sponsored life insurance, retirement security savings plan, short- and long-term disability programs and tuition assistance.</p> <p>#LI-AO</p> <p>#LI-Onsite</p> <p>ADA Statement & EEO Statement</p> <p>In developing this job description care was taken to include all competencies needed to successfully perform in this position.
