These efforts are monitored and assessed regularly to ensure accountability to all stakeholders.</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>Oliver Middle School is seeking a dedicated Paraprofessional SUB SEP to support students with special education needs, particularly in grades5 and 8. This role focuses on the development of the whole child-academically, socially, and emotionally-by implementing individualized supports, behavior interventions, and inclusive practices in both general and specialized classroom settings.</p> <p>Essential Duties & Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Provide day-to-day support for special education students </li><li>Implement strategies to support the development of the whole child </li><li>Manage student behavior, particularly within substantially separate classroom settings </li><li>Support the implementation and progress monitoring of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) </li><li>Collaborate with students, families, and staff to ensure IEP goals are met </li><li>Participate in meetings related to IEP development and student progress </li><li>Support delivery of high-quality curriculum that aligns with IEP goals </li><li>Apply proactive, positive behavior management systems </li><li>Collect and analyze behavioral data to inform support strategies </li><li>Promote and assist in the inclusion of students into general education settings </li><li>Maintain regular communication with stakeholders to support student needs </li><li>Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of special education practices and behavioral strategies </li><li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills </li><li>Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism </li><li>Capacity to implement behavior modification plans and data tracking </li><li>Ability to collaborate with educators, specialists, and families </li><li>Understanding of inclusion practices and classroom accommodations </li><li>Crisis intervention and de-escalation skills </li><li>Organizational and time management skills </li><li>Commitment to equity and supporting diverse learners </li></ul> <p>Qualifications & Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent required </li><li>Associate's degree or ParaPro certification preferred </li><li>At least one year of experience working with students with disabilities </li><li>Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred </li><li>Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate certifications, if required </li><li>Citizenship, residency, or work authorization in the U.S. required </li></ul> <p>Equal Opportunity Employer</p> <p>Lawrence Public Schools is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive environment for employees and applicants.
