<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Job Posting: Multi-Language Paraeducator</p> <p>Location: Multiple School Sites Across Region 1, CT</p> <p>Schedule: 10-Month Position | FLSA Status: Non-Exempt</p> <p>Travel Required: Yes - between schools (mileage reimbursed per contract)</p> <p>Region 1 Schools is seeking a compassionate, culturally responsive Multi-Language Paraeducator to support multilingual learners (MLs) in achieving academic success and developing English language proficiency. This role plays a critical part in helping students navigate both curriculum content and cultural acclimation. The ideal candidate is fluent in Spanish and brings experience or training in language acquisition and educational support.</p> <p>This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact across multiple school communities under the guidance of a certified, stipended teacher and in collaboration with school staff.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <p>Support ML students in accessing grade-level content across all subjects.</p> <p>Provide one-on-one and small group support under the direction of supervising teachers.</p> <p>Use Spanish language skills to assist Spanish-speaking students with comprehension and communication.</p> <p>Collaborate with educators and interpreters to support students speaking other languages.</p> <p>Implement language development strategies and assist in preparing assessments and instructional materials.</p> <p>Administer the LAS Links Assessment.</p> <p>Track and document student progress and daily activities.</p> <p>Participate in required trainings, team meetings, and professional development.</p> <p>Travel to various school sites as student needs dictate.</p> <p>Maintain student confidentiality and adhere to all district policies.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Required:</p> <p>High school diploma or equivalent.</p> <p>Pass the ParaPro assessment</p> <p>Fluency in Spanish (speaking, reading, and writing).</p> <p>Ability to travel between schools daily (valid driver's license and reliable transportation).</p> <p>Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.</p> <p>Experience working with youth in educational or similar settings.</p> <p>Preferred:</p> <p>Associate's Degree or 60+ college credits</p> <p>TESOL certification or coursework.</p> <p>Knowledge of second language acquisition, bilingual education, or culturally responsive practices.</p> <p>Skills & Competencies</p> <p>Knowledge of child development and second language acquisition processes.</p> <p>Ability to work independently, manage time across sites, and handle multiple tasks.</p> <p>Cultural competence and ability to connect with diverse student populations.</p> <p>Comfort using technology and educational platforms.</p> <p>Commitment to professional growth and training.</p> <p>Employment Terms</p> <p>Governed by the collective bargaining agreement with AFSCME Local 1303-266.</p> <p>Work Year: School Calendar (10 months).</p> <p>Physical Requirements: Ability to move within and between school buildings, transport materials, lift up to 25 pounds occasionally, and communicate clearly in English and Spanish.</p> <p>Compensation & Benefits</p> <p>Salary: Per the AFSCME Local 1303-266 collective bargaining agreement.
