<p>Location: Salt Lake City, UT - hybrid, frequent onsite work at the center is required each week.</p> <p>Hiring Range: This position's hiring range is anticipated to be $60,000-$70,000 annually, depending on experience, plus great benefits.</p> <p>This is a full-time temporary position that is expected to last 1 year from start date.</p> <p>Manager interviews are likely to begin the week of May 19th and continue until the position is filled (recruiter phone screens will occur prior to a manager interview).</p> <p>Position Summary: The Lifesaving Center Marketing Strategist is responsible for leading the development and execution of localized marketing and community engagement strategies that drive awareness, participation, and lifesaving outcomes in the LSC and surrounding areas. This role is a strategic partner to program, PR, multicultural marketing, and development teams-ensuring campaigns are informed by local insight, community needs, and aligned with Best Friends' mission and metrics for success. The ideal candidate is a collaborative self-starter with strong planning and execution skills who can translate organizational goals into actionable marketing initiatives with measurable impact.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Treat people around you with Kindness and Compassion, build trust by demonstrating authenticity and following through on your commitments, prioritize your well-being like you do our mission, and work to build strong relationships with your colleagues by participating in communication loops to share and receive honest feedback.</p> </li><li> <p>You are responsible and accountable for the culture you add to your team dynamic.</p> </li><li> <p>Develop and execute tactical, localized marketing campaigns in collaboration with Programs, PR, Creative, and Multicultural Marketing teams to promote adoption, fostering, community cat programs, and lifesaving resources.</p> </li><li> <p>Lead the planning and management of marketing calendars, promotions, and social media content across designated platforms, aligning with Best Friends' voice, style, and strategic goals.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor and analyze social and campaign performance metrics to inform data-driven adjustments and improvements.</p> </li><li> <p>Build and steward relationships with local media, businesses, influencers, volunteers, adopters, and community leaders to extend reach and relevance.</p> </li><li> <p>Support and attend in-person, hybrid, and virtual events, serving as a marketing representative and helping ensure alignment with brand standards and local relevance.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with website and landing page updates, local collateral development, and social storytelling opportunities that highlight impact.</p> </li><li> <p>Serve as a marketing liaison for community and shelter partnerships, ensuring alignment between programs, marketing, and engagement efforts.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with the PR team and local staff to coordinate media outreach, press events, and influencer visits as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and travel to support events or campaign efforts.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive work environment, modeling Best Friends' values in all interactions.</p> </li></ul> <p>Skills and Experience:</p> <ul> <li> <p>3-6 years of experience in marketing, community engagement, or related communications roles (nonprofit or cause-based preferred).</p> </li><li> <p>Proven experience managing and growing social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram etc.) with an understanding of content strategy, analytics, and audience development.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated ability to lead marketing campaigns from concept through execution with measurable outcomes.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience in navigating workflows in cross functional environments, connecting skillsets, job functions, project needs and external needs. Ability to successfully collaborate across teams and cultivate relationships.</p> </li><li> <p>Comfortable representing the organization publicly at events, in social media content, or in media interviews.</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to speak effectively across audiences and collaborate across departments.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience with event planning, promotions, grassroots marketing, or community outreach is highly valued.</p> </li><li> <p>Brand Stewardship - A clear understanding of how to maintain voice, tone, and visual identity across materials, ensuring all outreach aligns with established brand standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Adaptability and Self-Motivation - Ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, and adjust strategies based on changing priorities or community feedback.</p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort learning new systems, including content management, social media management, and CRM tools.</p> </li><li> <p>Graphic Design or Content Creation Skills - Basic proficiency in tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite to support the development of local collateral and digital assets.</p> </li><li> <p>Photography and/or Videography Skills - Comfort capturing or directing basic visual content for use in social media, campaigns, or storytelling, especially in fast-paced or on-the-ground environments is a plus</p> </li><li> <p>Experience in Animal Welfare or Nonprofit Marketing - Understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in marketing for mission-driven organizations or community programs is a plus</p> </li><li> <p>Familiarity with multicultural or bilingual marketing strategies is a plus.</p> </li><li> <p>Bi-lingual or multi-lingual skills preferred, but not required.</p> </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Routinely lift 65 pounds and perform daily strenuous activity including, but not limited to lifting, carrying, reaching, stooping, squatting, cleaning, and bending.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform repetitive tasks for extended periods of time including typing, sitting, walking, arm, and hand motion.</p> </li><li> <p>Work indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.</p> </li><li> <p>Daily exposure to dogs, cats and other animals of all sizes, temperaments, and medical status.</p> </li><li> <p>Must have a valid driver's license for at least 3 years, ability to qualify to be added to Best Friends insurance.</p> </li><li> <p>Daily hours and days of the week may vary according to the needs of the department schedule; position includes weekends, nights work.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to travel occasionally, including overnight stays, to support partner shelters and partner shelter staff in sustainable lifesaving work.
