<p>POSITION TITLE: Director of Recruitment and Outreach</p> <p>COMPENSATION RANGE: 50,000.00 - 55,000.00 USD per year</p> <p>EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Professional Administrative</p> <p>DEPARTMENT: Dean Col Nat & Health Sci Office</p> <p>TARGET HIRE DATE: 6/2/2025</p> <p>BENEFITS: UNC's Career Hub</p> <p>To ensure full consideration, applications must be received by 11:59pm (MT) on 05/31/2025.</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>The College of Natural and Health Sciences (NHS) Director of Recruitment & Outreach is the leader in all aspects of undergraduate and graduate recruitment and outreach and is instrumental in creating and implementing the College's strategic enrollment plan. The Director of Recruitment & Outreach is the face of the College and the first point of contact for prospective students and their support people. The position works with prospective students, undergraduate and graduate, to inform them about NHS academic programs and connect them to departments and events. The Director must have extensive knowledge of the recruitment process and a clear understanding of all the complexities that go into prospective students' decisions when deciding which college or university to attend. The Director of Recruitment & Outreach also advises individual academic units within the College on best recruitment practices, and provides guidance to departments in setting enrollment goals, and creates recruitment materials and social media and web content.</p> <p>The Director of Recruitment & Outreach works with UNC's Office of Admissions to align the College's recruitment goals with those of the University. The Director of Recruitment & Outreach develops and implements programs such as departmental add-ons and NHS recruitment events, including STEM and Health. They represent NHS at college fairs, industry conferences and conventions, and other recruitment opportunities; duties that involve in-state and out-of-state travel. In addition, this role develops and maintains recruitment, outreach and enrollment data and creates and manages information systems to track recruitment efforts. It is crucial the Director of Recruitment & Outreach make data-informed recruitment and enrollment decisions by monitoring yield numbers, creating program benchmarks, and keeping up to date on national enrollment trends.</p> <p>Fiscal responsibility is key for this position as the Director of Recruitment & Outreach manages the NHS recruitment budget as it relates to events, travel, student employment, swag purchases, etc. It is pertinent that the Director closely monitors the budget and makes fiscal decisions.</p> <p>The Director of Recruitment & Outreach directs the NHS Ambassador program, recruiting, supervising, and providing professional development for a team of student staff. In addition, the position will supervise and guide a Graduate Assistant who will aid in recruitment and enrollment efforts. This position also participates in NHS Leadership meetings and service efforts.</p> <p>The variety of tasks and level of decision-making assigned to this position demands a strong work ethic, fiscal responsibility, the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively, and a passion for furthering the College's mission and values</p> <p>Job Duties:</p> <p>Recruitment Events and Materials - 40%</p> <ul> <li>Plans, executes, and leads the NHS STEM and Health event </li><li>Coordinates NHS's involvement in UNC's undergraduate recruiting events such as Experience UNC, Destination UNC, and Honorable Scholar's Banquet. </li><li>Coordinates group and individual department visits. These visits often consist of 1:1 meetings, facilities tour, class visits, and faculty interactions with prospective students. </li><li>Coordinates high school recruitment visits with the Office of Admissions. </li><li>Works with units to develop a calendar of events. </li><li>Represents UNC/NHS at college fairs, industry conferences and conventions, and other recruitment events. </li><li>Provides Admission Counselors with up-to-date information for NHS academic units. </li><li>Provide guidance to and collaborate with faculty on recruitment-related initiatives in the academic units. </li><li>Collaborates with the Office of Admission, Office of Equity & Inclusion, and others to develop a plan to engage students with identities marginalized by higher education. </li><li>Collaborates with the NHS Communication Specialist to strategize and analyze campaigns to determine efficacy in driving recruitment and enrollment. </li><li>Collaborates with the NHS Communications Specialist in creating recruitment materials, social media, and web content. </li><li>Meets with the Associate Dean to review strategies, report on activities, and present analytics. </li><li>Works with the Associate Dean to determine scholarship awarding strategies and best practices. Analyze previous scholarship strategies for success or need for improvement. </li></ul> <p>Strategic Enrollment Planning and Implementation - 25%</p> <ul> <li>Works with the Associate Dean and unit leaders to create and annually revise college recruitment goals. </li><li>Educates individual units on best recruitment practices and provides guidance in setting department-level recruitment and enrollment targets. </li><li>Works with the Office of Admissions to create, implement, and maintain college and department- specific messaging to all prospective students and support people. </li><li>Represent NHS at the Admissions Partnership Group Meeting. </li><li>Develops and implements programming and strategies to increase yield and prevent summer melt. </li></ul> <p>Data and Report Management- 10%</p> <ul> <li>Determines college recruitment targets through analysis of current unit needs and historical data (applicant numbers, admit rates, and yield rates). </li><li>Demonstrates awareness of national trends in student identification and tracking related to NHS student recruiting, including analytics, use of websites, marketing collateral, and social media platforms. </li><li>Disaggregates recruitment data by identities marginalized by higher education. </li><li>Manages recruitment and enrollment data via the web-based admissions platforms and SLATE. </li><li>Provides a monthly recruitment and outreach report to the Associate Dean and unit leaders. </li><li>Maintains records over multiple years (made available to administrators and faculty), which track progress and long-term data trends. </li><li>Keeps up-to-date reports (Slate queries) and lets them inform recruitment and enrollment decisions. </li></ul> <p>Supervision - 10%</p> <ul> <li>Provides leadership development for the NHS ambassadors and Graduate Assistant(s). </li><li>Supervises the NHS Ambassadors to provide front-line customer service related to admissions, general information, social media content development, application materials coordination, and prospect visits. </li><li>Leads and delegate tasks to Graduate Assistant(s) as they relate to their role in recruitment and outreach. </li><li>Leads annual recruitment and selection process for the NHS Student Ambassadors. </li><li>Organizes and runs monthly meetings, team-building activities, service-learning projects, and leadership opportunities. </li></ul> <p>Fiscal Management - 10%</p> <ul> <li>Manages and tracks the recruitment and outreach budget and make strategic decisions on expenditures. </li><li>Manages Student Ambassador budget: determines, schedules, and approves weekly hours. </li><li>Creates, orders, and tracks supplies of recruitment swag items with the recruitment and outreach budget in mind. </li></ul> <p>Prospective Student and Support People Engagement - 5%</p> <ul> <li>Serves as the College's first point of contact for all prospective students and their support people and decide how best to promote the College to students. </li><li>Communicates the value of unique opportunities related to NHS degree programs and of an Arts and Liberal Arts education to a variety of constituents (e.g., students and their support people, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders). </li><li>Understands and be able to communicate to prospective students UNC and NHS admissions and application processes, expectations, and deadlines. </li><li>Corresponds with prospective students and their support people via phone calls, e-mails, Facebook, Instagram, texting, etc. </li><li>Provides college presentations for individual schools and groups. </li><li>Assists the Director of Advising with student-oriented events as needed for example, New Student Orientation and New Student Days </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <p>Minimum: A Bachelor's degree is required as is proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications, excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, attention to detail, strong work ethic, an enthusiasm for interacting with others, the ability to multitask and meet deadlines, willingness to travel, and a valid driver's license.</p> <p>Preferred: A Bachelor's degree in a degree area within the College of Natural and Health Sciences or a closely related field is preferred. The ideal candidate will also possess the following preferred qualifications: previous recruitment related experience, experience managing website content, experience managing social media accounts for organizations or businesses, experience organizing and/or marketing events, experience working with large databases, experience working with web-based admission platforms, e.g., SLATE, and demonstrated experience of successfully engaging with diverse communities.</p> <p>Benefits:</p> <p>Benefits available include health, dental, vision, life and long-term disability insurance, as well as a selection of several defined contribution retirement plans for all full-time positions.
