<p>We are seeking a passionate and dedicated High School Science Teacher with expertise in Chemistry and Physics to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will inspire students through engaging instruction, foster critical thinking and scientific inquiry, and promote a love for science. This role involves developing and implementing curriculum aligned with state standards, assessing student progress, and contributing to a dynamic academic environment.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Develop lesson plans based on the Ohio learning standards for science </li><li>Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities </li><li>Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter and present clear, complete, and accurate explanations utilizing a variety of instructional techniques and media suitable to the level of learners </li><li>Utilize demonstrations, lectures, discussions and student experiments to teach theories and skills in the science course </li><li>Demonstrate scientific concepts by the use of scientific apparatus, experiments, computers, and any other equipment necessary </li><li>Instruct pupils in the proper use, care, and safe handling of chemicals and science equipment </li><li>Provide for and ensure safe storage and proper use of materials, equipment, and tools </li><li>Teach and evaluate the students using sound instructional practices </li><li>Effectively manage the classroom and individual student behavior to maintain a good learning environment </li><li>Prepare clear and timely lesson plans </li><li>Maintain accurate and complete records as required </li><li>Provide guidance to students which will promote their welfare and their proper educational development </li><li>Ensure students are learning all subject material by testing, quizzing and evaluating student projects on a regular basis </li><li>Notify parents if student is not meeting classroom goals </li><li>Select and request books, instructional aids, science equipment, chemicals and supplies and maintain inventory records as required </li><li>Prepare, maintain and repair laboratory equipment </li><li>Notify supervisor of possible safety hazards in chemical laboratory area </li><li>Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., student grades, family history </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Valid Ohio Adolescence to Young Adult (7-12) License for Integrated Science </li><li>Bachelors or advanced degree </li><li>Ability to work well with young people and provide a positive influence on their educational experience </li><li>Ability to work cooperatively with local district, community, parents and students </li><li>A willingness to engage in voluntary professional development activities </li><li>High personal and professional standards </li></ul> <p>CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:</p> <ul> <li>Effective Date: 2025-2026 School Year </li><li>Length of Employment: One year limited contract </li><li>Salary: Based on current negotiated salary schedule with appropriate experience and training </li><li>Fringe Benefits: Based on current negotiated agreement </li></ul> <p>PROCEDURE: If interested, submit a letter of interest, resume, current teaching certificate/license, and a list of references to Superintendent Maureen Taggart at Maureen.taggart@torontocityschools.com.
