<p>Statement of Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Promotes by example. Loyalty, leadership, dedication, integrity, physical fitness, sportsmanship, cooperation and personal responsibility. </li><li>Implements codes of conduct for coaches, players, and parents of the Unified Basketball Team. </li><li>Ability to work the expected hours to include arriving prior to the student athlete arrival and departure times. </li><li>Maintains a thorough knowledge of game and competition rules and has the ability to educate student-athletes to share in that understanding, including the rules of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA). </li><li>Develops appropriate training programs and practice schedule </li><li>Ensure the proper cleaning, storage and maintenance of all athletic equipment and uniforms are adhered to in conjunction with the Athletic Director. </li><li>Travels with student-athletes on the team bus both to and from games. </li><li>Demonstrates knowledge of strategies and rules of applicable sport. </li><li>Adheres to all financial policies of the district in the regards to the collection, disbursement of money, expenses and receipts. </li><li>Works with the Athletic Trainer(s) and completes injury reports for any student injured within 24 hours even if the athlete does not see a physician. </li><li>Maintains necessary records and completes required paperwork and required team and individual statistics in a specified time and manner. </li><li>Works with the Athletic Department staff to ensure the proper forms including physical, attendance, parent consent and medical information is collected prior to the start of the season. </li><li>Enforces the policies and procedures of the Somerville School Committee and the Somerville High School Student Handbook. </li><li>Supervises appropriate behavior of students from arrival to departure, both on and off the field, including the locker room, buses, practices, and at home and away games. </li><li>Maintains a safe environment and facilities for all student athletes at all times. </li><li>Attends the annual coaches meeting. </li><li>Demonstrates commitment to protect student athletes from inappropriate conduct. </li><li>Proven ability to enforce all rules in all sport-related activities and venues. </li><li>Must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects and procedures pertinent to applicable sport including rules of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA). </li><li>Proven ability to work in a professional and friendly manner with various contingencies; i.e. students, teachers, parents, administrators, boosters, media, officials and the school community and public. </li><li>Reports to the Athletic Director and Somerville High School Principal any disciplinary issues immediately. </li><li>Performs other duties as requested by the Athletic Director, Principal and the Superintendent of Schools and/or his/her designee. </li></ul>
