<p>Position Summary</p> <p>As manager of the Weights and Measures Field Operations Section, this position is responsible for the administration of highly diverse and complex statewide inspection programs related to the regulation of weights and measures, petroleum/hazardous storage tanks, and fuel quality. This position participates in the Bureau of Weights and Measures' management team and manages field supervisory staff. This position and reviews applicable state/federal laws and Department policies and provides input and recommendations to the weights and measures leadership team. Also ensures field implementation of approved policies and procedures. The position provides consultation to governmental agencies, the regulated industries and the general public. Significant statewide travel is expected in this position to ensure administration of the weights and measures, petroleum/hazardous storage tanks, and fuel quality. The position operates under the general supervision of the Weights and Measures Bureau Director.</p> <p>Review the full position description for more details.</p> <p>Salary Information</p> <p>The classification of this position is Chief, Weights and Measures Field Operations, which is in schedule-range 81-02 with starting pay between $45.00 to $53.41 per hour (salary between $93,600 to $111,092.80 annually) based on qualifications.</p> <p>This position is not represented by a collective bargaining unit. A 24-month probationary period is required for this career executive position. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan at the time of hire.</p> <p>Job Details</p> <p>At DATCP, we strive to deliver efficient and effective programs and services to Wisconsin agriculture, consumers, and businesses. The Department has numerous on-the-job training (OJT) opportunities, unique to each Bureau.</p> <p>These OJT opportunities include direct experience and practice through collaboration with co-workers/supervisor, peer mentoring, and job-specific training modules including ability to attend national Weights and Measures, and Storage Tank conferences.</p> <p>This position will also be provided the opportunity to obtain the Storage Tank Inspector Certification.</p> <p>Conditions of Employment:</p> <p>DATCP does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the selected applicant being able to provide documentation of eligibility to work in the United States.</p> <p>A criminal background check will be performed on the selected applicant prior to an offer of employment.</p> <p>Possession of a valid driver's license or the ability to provide one's own transportation for work purposes, is required.</p> <p>A valid driver's license and the eligibility to drive a State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle* is required.</p> <ul> <li> <p>In order to be authorized to drive a State vehicle the candidate must meet the requirements of the State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy, which are:</p> </li><li> <p>Must have a valid driver's license;</p> </li><li> <p>Must have a minimum of two years of licensed driving experience;</p> </li><li> <p>Must be 18 years of age.</p> </li></ul> <p>Additionally, your driving record MUST NOT reflect any of the following conditions:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Three or more moving violations and/or at-fault accidents in the past two years;</p> </li><li> <p>Operating While Intoxicated (OWI)/Driving Under the Influence (DUI) citation within the past 12 months;</p> </li><li> <p>Suspension or revocation of driver's license.</p> </li></ul> <p>Travel for approximately 25% of this position's duties with occasional overnight stay is required.</p> <p>Ability to obtain and maintain Storage Tank Inspector Certification within 12 months of hire is required.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Minimally qualified candidates will have each of the following:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Experience supervising, directing, guiding, overseeing, or evaluating the work of professional staff (assigning/evaluating work, providing feedback, formal lead/project management duties, etc.)</p> </li><li> <p>Experience working independently at a worksite and/or in a remote field position (i.e., performing repairs and/or installation at various work sites, managing and/or coordinating own workload assignments, self-scheduling for assigned customer contacts, etc.).</p> </li><li> <p>Experience working with federal and state laws, regulations and policies pertaining to regulation of weights and measures, petroleum/hazardous storage tanks, and/or fuel quality.</p> </li></ul> <p>In addition to the minimum qualifications above, highly qualified candidates will have one or more of the following:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Experience developing and evaluating policy alternatives and making recommendations to decision makers on significant policy actions.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience supervising other managers/supervisors, including conducting performance evaluations, resource management, prioritization, reviewing/assigning work, leading/motivating staff, etc.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders, acting as point of contact, business liaison, or similar.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience working with Wisconsin Administrative Code Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection (ATCP) 90, 91, 92, 93, or 94.</p> </li></ul> <p>How To Apply</p> <p>If viewing this posting on an external site (such as indeed.com, etc.), please visit Wisc.Jobs and search for this Job ID: # 20226 to complete your application for this posting.</p> <p>DATCP is an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.
