<p>The Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) has an opening for a Long-term Substitute Assistant Principal - Learning Center within the Student Services division of the Chester County Intermediate Unit. This position is anticipated to begin on 9/1/2025 and anticipated to end in January 2026. An extension is possible, but is not guaranteed.</p> <p>The Assistant Principal of the Chester County Learning Center is responsible for providing administrative and instructional leadership by assisting the Principal in the supervision of the special education programs at the Learning Center. The Assistant Principal assists with the oversight and responsibility of the educational programming for middle and high school students. These students are experiencing mental health or behavioral health challenges, significant social challenges, and/or anxiety disorders, and they are in need of a highly structured program in order to make academic and social-emotional progress. The Chester County Learning Center consists of the following programs:</p> <ul> <li>Options Program: An emotional support program serving students who experience emotional and behavioral difficulties. </li><li>Career Academy: A vocational training program serving students with a variety of disabilities that range from developmental to emotional and behavioral concerns. </li></ul> <p>Essential Job Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Serve as an instructional leader driving student achievement and social-emotional growth outcomes. </li><li>Maintain highest levels of expertise and knowledge regarding best practices in special education and instructional pedagogy. </li><li>Provide expertise in the development, implementation, and maintenance of social-emotional programming based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis and Trauma Informed Care </li><li>Lead teachers in planning effective, developmentally appropriate programming for students. </li><li>Provide direct instructional coaching to multiple teachers throughout the school year. </li><li>Lead student data analysis process at the individual teacher level to the school-wide level. Facilitate data conversations and subsequent instructional planning with teachers on an ongoing basis. </li><li>Assist with the interviewing, selection, supervision, and evaluation of professional and support staff. </li><li>Observe and provide feedback to teachers and evaluate their performance. </li><li>Identify needs of staff and assist in the planning and implementation of staff development. </li><li>Ability to communicate recommendations for improvements in special education programming to various stakeholders based on sound assessment measures that reflect the changing needs of students and district partners. </li><li>Assume primary responsibility for student discipline and supervise behavior management teams. </li><li>Ability to implement de-escalation strategies, maintain composure and professionalism, and make sound, student-centered decisions during aggressive behavioral episodes or other mental health crises </li><li>Ability to use physical management strategies to maintain safety of all students and staff members </li><li>Oversee special education procedures and policies to assure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal mandates and laws, and CCIU Board Policy. </li><li>Coordinate implementation of planned curriculum and assessment processes. </li><li>Coordinate the multi-disciplinary team in the development of IEPs. </li><li>Develop and aide in the development and implementation of transition plans. </li><li>Procure necessary instructional materials and equipment as indicated by programmatic needs. </li><li>Liaise with other CCIU and LEA staff to ensure continuum of special education programming for all students served. </li><li>Oversee the maintenance and accuracy of student records to ensure accuracy of student data entry for state reporting and billing purposes </li><li>Conduct building staff meetings for a variety of purposes: professional development, dissemination of pertinent information, special education best practices, curricular initiatives, build positive culture, etc. </li><li>Provide monthly input to CCIU Board, Professional Advisory Committee (PAC) and Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) on progress, updates and program issues. </li><li>Oversee the building ESY program including staff hiring, program planning, logistics, etc. </li><li>Conduct weekly meeting with all first year teachers to facilitate their successful induction into the Learning Center and CCIU culture. </li><li>Collaborate with mentor teachers and their assigned Learning Center teachers. </li><li>Deliver demonstration lessons for teachers as needed. </li><li>Review goals and evaluate individual staff objectives within differentiated supervisory guidelines; coordinate and monitor staff development to provide continual improvement of delivery of services based on best practices of current research. </li><li>Responsible for approval of requisitioned expenditures within allocations. Prepare and/or aide in the preparation and development of budgets, budget revisions and budget proposals/projections. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Education and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in special education or education required. Master's degree in educational leadership or special education preferred </li><li>5 years teaching experience in special education preferred, experience teaching students with significant social-emotional and behavioral needs preferred. </li><li>3 years administrative experience preferred. </li><li>Experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum, instructional effectiveness/student outcomes. </li><li>Qualities of leadership and good communication skills essential in the fulfillment of responsibilities of the position. </li><li>Experience in planning and conducting professional development activities. </li><li>Ability to supervise professional, support staff, and related service providers and work in harmony with administrative, instructional and non-instructional personnel. </li></ul> <p>Professional Credentials:</p> <ul> <li>PDE Principal certification required </li><li>PDE Special Education Teacher certification required </li><li>Pennsylvania Supervisor of Special Education certification preferred. </li></ul> <p>Salary Range (2025-2026)</p> <p>Administrators, Level F, $118,603 - $148,253/yr.</p> <ul> <li>Placement on scale commesurate to years of experience in relevant role* </li></ul> <p>LB</p> <p>Equal Opportunity Employer</p> <p>Chester County Intermediate Unit is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
