<p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>To be certified in the category of Building Inspector (Residential Roofing) candidates shall have at least one of the following: (aa) Possess a current roofing contractor certificate issued by: (1) The Miami-Dade County Construction Trades Qualifying Board and not less than one-year field experience; or (2) The Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board and not less than one year of field experience. (bb) Possess a current certification as a Building Inspector (General) in Miami-Dade County and hold a State of Florida Standard Roofing Inspector License or a personal certificate from the Miami-Dade County Construction Trades Qualifying Board as a Roofing Inspector or Roofing Contractor. (cc) Possess a current certification as a Building Inspector in Miami-Dade County and hold a personal certificate as a General Contractor issued by the Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board, provided the number of the license shall be less than #7837 (dd) Possess a current license from the State of Florida as a Registered Architect or Engineer and one year of roofing experience. (ee) A Standard Building Inspector license issued by the Florida Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board with a minimum of one year of supervisory field experience and eligible for examination under (aa) or (bb) above.</p> <p>Recruitment Notes</p> <p>This position involves technical work in the structural inspection of roofing systems for compliance with the Florida Building Code.</p> <p>Incumbents in this role are responsible for conducting technical field inspections of all roofing permit categories, including new and existing roofing installations, to ensure that facilities meet code requirements.</p> <p>Responsibilities also include inspecting constructions throughout their progress and upon completion, advising contractors on necessary changes, engaging in routine and periodic patrols to detect violations, issuing violation notices, investigating complaints of defective installations, and approving completed work by signing permits for final County acceptance. Additional duties include providing information to contractors and the public and assisting in the resolution of their disagreements. Supervision is received from a technical supervisor who reviews work for conformance with established departmental policies, procedures, and regulations.</p>
