The Facilities Division consists of 24 staff members that work hard to ensure all residents and employees of Broomfield have access to clean, safe, and energy efficient buildings and aquatic facilities.</p> <p>We are searching for a Journeyman Electrician to coordinate and complete installation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of various electrical components and equipment located throughout City and County facilities. This position is regularly scheduled Monday-Friday, 6:00 am to 2:30 pm and may work overtime and on-call as needed for emergencies.</p> <p>Total Compensation Package</p> <p>Salary Range: $33.82 - $45.76/hour</p> <p>Free Recreation Center Pass (Gym & Pool)</p> <p>14 days paid vacation + 10 sick days per year + 12 paid holidays</p> <p>Medical, dental, & vision insurance (Wellness discount on insurance premiums available)</p> <p>No travel required - all jobs within City of Broomfield</p> <p>6% employer retirement match</p> <ul> <li> <p>Performs and assists with new installations, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance tasks for residential and commercial-type electrical service; including low, medium and high voltage systems, conduit, electrical boxes, motors, receptacles, switches, light fixtures, pulling cables, security and fire alarm systems, energy management systems, card access systems, telephone systems, meters, emergency power generators, automatic transfer switches, uninterruptible power supply (UPSs), and elevator equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs electrical demolition work, including removing old wire and electrical equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Responds to work orders and other customer needs for electrical repairs and installations. </p> </li><li> <p>Inspects facilities, equipment and electrical systems to determine compliance with State standards, and need for repair or upgrades. </p> </li><li> <p>Performs thermal imaging on Motor Control Centers (MCCs); analyzes power fluctuations and transformers and MCCs; and calibrates 4 to 20 milliamp instruments. </p> </li><li> <p>Develops and implements electrical energy conservation projects.</p> </li><li> <p>Measures and analyzes electrical use within facilities and evaluates load sharing. </p> </li><li> <p>Reviews blueprints and construction plans. </p> </li><li> <p>Maintains records of operation, maintenance, and repairs. </p> </li><li> <p>Maintains inventory of parts and supplies.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides technical guidance and/or training to maintenance staff, project managers, and other personnel. </p> </li><li> <p>Develops electrical specifications and designs for small renovations, tasks, and contracts.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinates and prioritizes activities of the Division with those of other Divisions or Departments. </p> </li><li> <p>Assesses municipal needs to determine the necessity of capital improvements and equipment acquisition. </p> </li><li> <p>May schedule work and estimate time and materials. </p> </li><li> <p>Removes snow after/before hours, weekends and holidays to ensure public safety.</p> </li></ul> <p>Education </p> <ul> <li> <p>High School Diploma/GED</p> </li><li> <p>State of Colorado Journeyman Electrician License - required</p> </li></ul> <p>Experience </p> <ul> <li>Four years electrical apprenticeship, vocational or technical training including experience in the commercial electrical trade, troubleshooting, and/or maintenance and repair. </li></ul> <p>Years of related experience may be substituted for required education, however education cannot be substituted for the necessary work experience. Candidates must meet the minimum required years of work experience. </p> <p>NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: </p> <p>Must be at least 18 years of age. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record for continued employment. New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: in-person or virtual interviews, reference checks, background checks including local police check and sex-offender registry, DMV check, pre-placement physical, fingerprints through CBI/FBI, and bi-annual CJIS certification. </p> <p> (The work environment characteristics and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities and neuro-differences to perform the essential functions.) </p> <ul> <li> <p>Physical demands are described as heavy (exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects).</p> </li><li> <p>Ascend, descend, and work on a 20 foot ladder as well as rooftops of multiple-story buildings.</p> </li><li> <p>Required to operate/use/handle/construct equipment, e.g., office equipment, hand tools, etc.</p> </li><li> <p>Required to communicate and/or detect sounds</p> </li><li> <p>Required to sit, kneel, or crawl</p> </li><li> <p>Requires walking or standing to a significant degree.</p> </li><li> <p>May occasionally be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, or airborne particles.</p> </li><li> <p>Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, color vision, and peripheral vision.</p> </li><li> <p>Work near moving mechanical parts.</p> </li><li> <p>Work in confined spaces.</p> </li><li> <p>Work in year-round outdoor weather conditions.</p> </li><li> <p>Work is generally scheduled Monday through Friday with some weekend and holiday work required.</p> </li></ul>
