<p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Works under the supervision of assigned Memphis Police Department (MPD) Lieutenant or designated MPD police personnel to assist the MPD's Traffic Operations (DUI Unit) in a non-uniformed capacity. Assists in identifying establishments, any entities, or individuals that sell, manufacture, or distribute alcohol to minors. Participates in undercover operations by transacting sales with store clerks or bartenders to purchase beverages and products. Searches for and gathers physical or documentary evidence or clues. Conducts cash sale transactions to purchase alcoholic beverages from licensed establishments to include store clerks, restaurant bartenders, any establishments, or individuals that are permitted or not permitted to sell alcoholic beverages.</p> <p>OTHER FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Performs additional functions (essential or otherwise) which may be assigned. </li><li>Aids officer when resolving complaints against a City of Memphis licensee. </li></ul> <p>TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Requires ability to operate general office equipment such as a computer and a telephone. Requires periods of sitting, standing, walking, lifting, reaching, pushing, and pulling.</p> <p>TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in various assigned locations. May be exposed to outside weather conditions.</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to read, write, and understand verbal instructions. Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age and not over the age of twenty (20).</p> <p>SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a temporary grant funded, non-commissioned position. Work is performed throughout the day, but hours will vary. Work assignments will be offered on a sporadic basis and must be regularly accepted as a condition of continued employment.</p> <p>Special Requirements on posting:</p> <p>The City Charter requires that City Employees must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from date of Employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire. The City Charter requires that City Employees, with the EXECEPTION of "first responders", must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from their date of Employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire.
