<p> </p> <p>Otterbein University is in search of an Assistant Director of Student Engagement: Fraternity & Sorority Life. The Assistant Director is primarily responsible for the design and implementation of advising, housing, community relations, and programming for Fraternity & Sorority Life. This is a full-time, exempt position working 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year. </p> <p> </p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.</p> <p>SORORITY AND FRATERNITY LIFE</p> <p>Advising</p> <ul> <li>Serves as advisor to the Panhellenic Council, Interfraternity Council, and National Pan-Hellenic Council City-Wide chapters </li><li>Attends all Panhellenic Executive Council, IFC Executive Council, and Greek Council meetings </li><li>Meets with all Presidents and Council Officers on a monthly and bi-weekly schedule, respectively </li><li>Provides guidance to individual local chapters in lieu of national chapter advisors, including constitution development, standards, and recruitment plans </li><li>Reviews all New Member Education Plans for compliance and provides recommendations to each chapter </li><li>Ensures that chapters are using social media platforms and student engagement platform (Campus Groups) to promote programming </li></ul> <p>Programming & Training</p> <ul> <li>Coordinates the planning and implementation of recruitment and intake for IFC, Panhel, and NPHC </li><li>Ensures that FSL training complies with state and federal laws pertaining to hazing and reporting </li><li>Plans and organizes educational programming and leadership development opportunities including, but not limited to: leadership retreats, council & chapter transitions, officer trainings, risk prevention, hazing, alcohol and other drugs, new member experience, social justice, gender inclusivity, sexual assault prevention, Title IX, and accountability </li><li>Coordinates Hazing Prevention Week </li><li>Coordinates the planning and implementation of Greek Week </li><li>Promotes and supports FSL unity programming (e.g., sports tailgates, Trick or Treat for Cans, MLK Day of Service) </li><li>Ensures that chapters are using social media platforms and the student engagement platform (Campus Groups) to promote programming </li></ul> <p>University Partnerships & Alumni Relations</p> <ul> <li>Serves as liaison between the University and the local fraternities & sororities </li><li>Serves as liaison to the Otterbein Greek Alumni Council </li><li>Serves as the liaison between the University and National Headquarters of nationally affiliated organizations </li><li>Establish methods for engaging campus partners in the advising, leadership development, and programming of the FSL communit </li><li>Develops and implements staff and alumni advisor on-boarding to communicate roles, responsibilities, and expectations of the university </li><li>Hosts regular advisor meetings and trainings with chapter alumni advisors </li><li>Partners with Marketing and Communications on website and social media development </li><li>Collaborates with internal departments to engage FSL community at signature campus-wide events (e.g., Orientation, Homecoming, Ready Day, Commencement) </li></ul> <p>Records, Budgeting, Operations, & Assessment</p> <ul> <li>Maintains records of all constituents and membership in each FSL organization, including student information on multiple university platforms (Banner, MCR Housing, and Guardian) </li><li>Monitors the academic records for active and new members within FSL organizations </li><li>Manages budgets and agency accounts pertinent to FSL </li><li>Assess policies, programs and procedures for the FSL community on a regular basis </li><li>Develops and sustains administrative practices that service the FSL community, including, but not limited to: communication protocol, collection process for roster management, invoices for dues, social media outreach, and data collection </li><li>Assists with the management of the university's required online hazing prevention training platform </li></ul> <p>Judicial Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Serves as the "Staff on Call" for the Otterbein Police Department for incidents involving FSL organizations, emergency situations, determines appropriate actions, and communicates to key stakeholders </li><li>Performs monthly late-night chapter house visits to ensure safety protocols are in place </li><li>Hears complaints from FSL student participants about potential violations of recruitment protocols, new member education guidelines, and FSL standards </li><li>Assists with the processing of FSL student conduct violations </li><li>Communicates violations to FSL members </li></ul> <p>FSL Housing Management</p> <ul> <li>Manages housing for all University-owned FSL houses, including opening and closing, key management, furniture inventory </li><li>Conducts routine health and safety inspections of facility and reports areas of concern to Facilities Services. Monitors progress and resolution </li><li>Manages room assignments and room change/vacancy/consolidation processes within area in coordination with the Housing Operations Coordinator </li><li>Supports Housing Selection process </li><li>Develops curriculum and provides training for House Managers </li><li>Communicates with chapters regarding expectations for non-university-owned FSL houses </li><li>Researches and makes recommendations for risk management and insurance coverage </li></ul> <p>GENERAL CENTER FOR STUDENT ENGAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Assists with general operations, including: strategic planning, transportation and risk-management, supervision of student employees, budget oversight, communications, outreach, public relations, tracking, and assessment </li><li>Collaborates on leadership initiatives across all CSE functional areas </li><li>Provides support and assistance to the Dean </li><li>Participates in a team approach to coordinating programs within the Department </li><li>Serves on campus committees as appointed or elected </li><li>Completes reports and assessment of programs and activities </li><li>Participates in evening, late night, and weekend activities </li></ul> <p>GENERAL STUDENT AFFAIRS RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Works with the Student Affairs staff and faculty to facilitate campus-wide programs and activities </li><li>Maintains open lines of communication with faculty, students, community partners, and the administration </li><li>Develops a campus community where all individuals may be served, taking into consideration the needs, interests and abilities of individual students and student groups </li><li>Participates in student affairs staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and campus presentations </li><li>Counsels with students having difficulty personally, emotionally, socially and/or academically and makes appropriate referrals </li><li>Participates in evening and weekend activities </li><li>Participates in on-call rotation </li></ul> <p>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises student personnel</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
