<p>This Medical Technician - Phlebotomy position is for the Nursing, Ambulatory Care service of the VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System (ECHCS) and is located at the Lieutenant Colonel John W. Mosley VA Clinic in Aurora, CO. This position uses knowledge of the technical methods and procedures to carrying out duties common to the Accessions/Phlebotomy section of the laboratory. This positions assist with maintenance of laboratory machines and with maintaining records for laboratory certification.</p> <p>Major duties include but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Collects lab specimens. </li><li>Evaluates tests for processing determination. </li><li>Works in close cooperation with License Independent Provider / Medical Officer of the medical Center in ensuring effective medical treatment is provided. </li><li>Sets up all necessary accessories and supplies regarding laboratory testing. </li><li>Makes adjustments to laboratory testing equipment. </li><li>Maintains, cleans, and stores all laboratory medical equipment. </li><li>Ensures the College of American Pathology (CAP) and Point of Care certification are met. </li><li>Assists in training and competency assessments. </li><li>Ensure compliance with established directives and protects the confidentiality of the patient's medical records. </li><li>Provides phlebotomy training to Medical Laboratory Technicians, Medical Technologists, Medical Technology students, and other Medical Professionals. </li><li>Prepares specimens to be sent to outside laboratories. </li><li>Assists in the documentation of medical record information. </li><li>Communicates with other clinical staff members any new procedural requirements for point of care testing. </li><li>Receives outpatient accessions specimens from Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center. </li></ul> <p>Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met.
