<p>Division Information</p> <p>The Home & Garden business unit of Spectrum Brands is based in St. Louis, Missouri with distribution, manufacturing and sales offices throughout the US and globe. We are a leading supplier of consumer products nationally for the home, lawn and garden, insect and weed control markets. We deliver groundbreaking products of exceptional value and top-notch quality to consumers with our well-recognized brands including Spectracide, Hot Shot, Cutter, Repel, Black Flag, Garden Safe, EcoLogic and Liquid Fence.</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>Our Plant Sciences Research Assistant will collaborate closely with members of the plant science team to develop new products for outdoors plant pest solutions portfolio. This position will focus on solutions such as herbicides, fungicides, biological control agents, and insect plant pest products. The individual will assist in the development of integrated pest control with emphasis on chemical control across board. The incumbent will also participate in team-directed research efforts across areas of emphasis within this portfolio</p> <p>Primary Duties & Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Work with laboratory personnel to conduct plant pest solutions efficacy trials that require the handling of weeds, herbicides, fungicides, biostimulants and biocontrol products </li><li>Maintain records of plant science seed inventory and plant propagation equipment </li><li>Assist in all tasks associated with plant propagation and testing </li><li>Maintain detailed and accurate records of experimental tasks </li><li>Support outreach and brand education activities as required. </li><li>Comply with company policies and procedures </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience Profile</p> <ul> <li>Associate degree in Agricultural sciences, Agronomy, Weed Science, or a related field </li><li>A minimum of two years in college. </li><li>Prior experience in plant propagation, maintenance and herbicide application is a plus. </li><li>GEP experience is a plus. </li></ul> <p>Required Skills</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of plant science laboratory operations, equipment, and safety requirements </li><li>A working knowledge of plant pest solutions especially herbicides, fungicides, and plant nutrient solutions. </li><li>Ability to work under individual task supervision. </li><li>Ability to think creatively and overcome obstacles. </li><li>Good oral and written communication, and presentation skills </li><li>PC skills (Spreadsheet, word processing, presentations). </li><li>Organizational and time management skills and flexibility in shifting among projects. </li><li>Ability to work well in a team environment. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <ul> <li>100% laboratory/office environment. </li><li>This is an LTE role forecasted for 6 months with a potential extension of 3 months if needed. </li></ul>
