<p>Description</p> <p>Summary:</p> <p>Speech-Language pathologists provide services that identify, prevent and rehabilitate speech, language, cognition, voice, fluency and swallowing disorders. Evaluates and analyzes patients, treatment and instruction to patient/family to maximize functional independence. Clinical responsibilities may include treatment of pediatrics, and/or adults and mature adults. May work in any of these locations: in-patient, out-patient, pediatrics.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Performs speech/language evaluations on patients with complex diagnoses.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs speech/language therapy treatment planning and implementation for complex patients.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides patient/family education and training.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides peer reviews and participates in performance improvement activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Documentation is completed based on department guidelines.</p> </li><li> <p>Initiates discharge planning.</p> </li><li> <p>Continuing education: attends 20 hours of continuing education per year. Provides 10 hours of in-service education to staff per year.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides full time clinical experience to students and community education lectures.</p> </li><li> <p>Acts as mentor to lower level staff and new staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Participates in orienting, teaching, guiding and evaluating assisting staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists with annual competency training and verification.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists with scheduling patients and achieving appropriate staffing.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides coverage in program coordinators absence as requested.</p> </li><li> <p>Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other duties as assigned.</p> </li></ol> <p>Education: MASTER'S LVL DGRE</p> <p>Other Information:</p> <p>Required: Minimum Experience: three years</p> <p>Desired: CPR certification. FEES and MBS clinical experience</p> <p>Desired: Functional Independent Measurement (FIM) certification</p> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <p>Manual: Some manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity</p> <p>Occupational: Some occupational risk</p> <p>Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort.
