Actual salary placement will be in accordance with the salary procedures of the Frederick County Public School System. Please see linked salary scale for the full range.</p> <p>Role</p> <p>The Community Liaison has the primary responsibility for developing and maintaining home-school communication in matters related to social and academic growth of identified students.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <p>Reporting directly to the Supervisor of ELL in coordination with the principal, the Community Liaison, ELL performs the following duties:</p> <ul> <li>Act as a central point of contact to welcome EL parents, help with enrollment, answer questions about FCPS, and assist students/parents to get off to a good start </li><li>Works collaboratively with FCPS personnel to assist parents new to Frederick County Public Schools. </li><li>Develop parent education programs in attitudes, skills, and tasks for supporting their child's education. </li><li>Helps organize parent events for parents and community members. </li><li>Assist parents in understanding and utilizing school programs available to students. </li><li>Connect EL parents with appropriate community services to ensure that parents and children have support necessary to excel in FCPS </li><li>Communicate parent concerns to FCPS stakeholders as appropriate. </li><li>Participate in professional learning to enhance job related skills. </li><li>Transport children and families as appropriate. </li><li>Collaborates with the International Office to support EL families. </li><li>Maintain confidential information and records. </li><li>Collaborates with other FCPS community liaisons as necessary. </li><li>Encourage two-way communication between parent and school staff. </li><li>Translate documents and interpret, as necessary. </li></ul> <p>Other Functions</p> <ul> <li>Provides written and oral bilingual reports to schools and others as required. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned by the EL Supervisor. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent. </li><li>Proficiency in a language other than English, Spanish preferred </li><li>Possession of a valid driver's license </li><li>Effective bilingual oral and written communication skills. </li><li>Capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations. </li><li>Regular and predictable attendance. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Associate Degree - Two (2) years' relevant experience may be substituted for associate degree. </li><li>General knowledge of school organization and programs. </li><li>Demonstrated knowledge of community resources within the Frederick community. </li><li>Experience working with families who speak a language other than English. </li><li>Familiarity with the FCPS policies, goals and programs. </li></ul> <p>FREDERICK COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER</p> <p>THIS JOB DESCRIPTION HAS BEEN WRITTEN TO INDICATE THE GENERAL NATURE AND LEVEL OF WORK PERFORMED BY AN EMPLOYEE HOLDING THIS POSITION.
