<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Odyssey is searching for a PreK-8 General Music Teacher to join our dedicated and creative teaching team at Odyssey Community School, a 417 student public school for learners in grades PK - 8 in Manchester, CT. Odyssey is the first Connecticut public charter school with a distinguished history of excellence, outstanding student performance, and a learning community committed to meaningful core values. Odyssey's vibrant educational community is an ideal work environment for a teacher who is creative, flexible, and who will work collaboratively with a group of dedicated staff and students who have enrolled in Odyssey as a school of choice. We offer an early release for students each Friday to allow for weekly professional learning opportunities for all staff. In addition, our class sizes are no more than 20 students allowing for more individualized attention and support. This is truly an exciting opportunity for an eager and talented teacher to have a significant impact on our growing and diverse student population.</p> <p>This Music Educator position is a general music position, but we want to grow our collection of instruments to add an instrumental position in the future. Currently we have class instruments such as ukuleles, keyboards, Orff instruments, recorders, and African drums. This creative educator will also be able to tap into their expertise and student talents and possibly provide lessons/rehearsals during morning mindset and every Friday afternoon.</p> <p>We offer:</p> <ul> <li>Small class sizes (no more than 20 students) to foster individualized instruction and support. </li><li>PreK-1st grade classes have para-educator support. </li><li>Early release Fridays to allow for weekly professional learning and collaboration among all staff. </li><li>A warm, mission-driven community focused on nurturing courage, integrity, respect, curiosity, leadership, and excellence. </li></ul> <p>Duties and Responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li>Plan and deliver daily instruction for PreK-8 Music Classes aligned with state and national music standards </li><li>Maintain a positive, well-managed classroom environment that supports student learning and engagement. </li><li>Develop a balanced music program and lessons to organize class time so that students have adequate time for preparation, rehearsal, and instruction </li><li>Conduct ongoing assessment of student musical learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed </li></ul> <p>View the full posting using this LINK</p> <ul> <li>Qualifications: </li><li>Valid CT teaching certification - Music, PreK-8 (049) </li><li>Availability from 7:30 am - 3:00 pm Monday - Friday </li><li>Compensation and Benefits: </li></ul> <p>Salary Range: $52,245 - $104,492</p> <p>Work Year: 186 days (189 days the first year including new teacher orientation)</p> <p>Leave: All Full-time employees are granted fifteen (15) sick days per year and three (3) personal days,</p> <p>Insurance: All full-time employees are eligible to enroll in the school's comprehensive benefits programs. Odyssey provides programs for medical and dental insurance for the employee/family with a 17.5% employee share. We also provide a 403(b) voluntary retirement savings plan (with a defined employer match up to 3% for employee contributions) through payroll deductions, voluntary limited flexible spending account reimbursement account, voluntary day care reimbursement account, life insurance, and short term/long term disability insurance.</p> <p>TRB: In accordance with Connecticut law, all certified teachers are required to participate in the Connecticut Teachers' Retirement System administered by the Connecticut Teachers' Retirement Board (TRB).
