<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Title: Part-Time High School Equivalency Mathematics Instructor for Adult Learning Center</p> <p>Unit: Non-Credit Instructors</p> <p>Department: Institutional Advancement</p> <p>Reports to: Director of Adult Learning Center</p> <p>Date: April 16, 2025 (Update 4/17/25)</p> <p>General Summary: The Middlesex Community College Adult Learning Center seeks to fill a part-time mathematics instructor position for synchronous online evening classes beginning the fall of 2025, this instructor will prepare a diverse body of students to earn a High School credential and/or develop the literacy and numeracy skills needed to qualify for further education, job training, or better employment.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Become familiar with and adhere to all Dept. of Education expectations for grant funded Adult Education programs </li><li>Prepare and develop lessons aligned with the College and Career Readiness Standards for Adults. </li><li>Use formative assessment regularly to determine progress toward objectives and inform lesson planning </li><li>Use available technology and differentiated instruction to enhance lessons including the learning management system Google Classroom </li><li>Create a classroom culture that is motivating, inviting, safe and supports students in their academic and social-emotional growth </li><li>Collaborate with colleagues to continuously improve personal practice, classroom instruction, assessment and student success; as well as to achieve the overall goals and mission of the program </li><li>Attend and participate in staff and program development meetings </li><li>Participate in required ACLS (Adult and Community Learning Services) trainings and conferences that support Professional Development </li><li>Communicate regularly with the program coordinator and director regarding student issues, and other problems or concerns </li><li>Adhere to all protocols and norms for communication, e.g. checking Email, phone, etc. on a regular basis </li><li>Maintain accurate records, e.g. attendance, timesheets, lesson plans, etc. </li><li>Remain current with essential program related information, e.g. HiSET, GED, Links, MCC resources, etc. </li><li>Interact appropriately and professionally with staff, students, visitors, and all members of the college and the community </li><li>Fulfill all outlined and related functions in a professional, timely, and thorough manner </li><li>Perform other related duties as needed and requested </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree </li><li>Previous teaching experience </li><li>Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, Zoom, etc. </li><li>Willingness to use a variety of software programs and to keep up to date with new technology as needed </li><li>Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills </li><li>Self-directed, enthusiastic, reliable, and creative </li><li>Comfortable working as a team player to enhance the overall success of the program </li><li>Ability to accept constructive feedback from administrative staff </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree </li><li>Previous teaching experience with adults </li><li>Bilingual skills </li><li>Experience with online teaching and learning </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Pay Rate: $35.00 per hour for teaching, prep time, meetings and professional development, eligible for earned paid time off in accordance with state law.</p> <p>Hours: Teaching from 6pm to 9pm on Monday and Wednesday evenings; August through May.
