Our dedication to the health and well-being of our entire community makes this a truly special place to work.</p> <p>Summary:</p> <p>Performs diagnostic radiographs of patients while maintaining patient safety. May provide clinical instruction to prospective Radiologic Technologist students and assist in evaluating student's ability to perform procedures.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Greet patient, introduces self, and checks patient identification.</p> </li><li> <p>Reviews patient script and Cerner requisition to ensure the appropriate exam is being performed.</p> </li><li> <p>Acquires appropriate history from patient that is pertinent to the exam being performed.</p> </li><li> <p>Explains procedure and answers any questions the patient has regarding the test.</p> </li><li> <p>Follows department protocol for exam and ensures the safety & comfort of the patient.</p> </li><li> <p>Shields patient according to department protocol and follows ALARA standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Produces and review high quality x-rays for interpretation by the Radiologist.</p> </li><li> <p>Interacts professionally with patient and family.</p> </li><li> <p>Attends annual hospital review & departmental in-services meetings. Practices medicine & surgical aseptic procedures. Assists Radiologist with invasive procedures. Works well with other modalities to provide complete patient care.</p> </li><li> <p>May provide clinical instruction to prospective radiographers to instill duties of a radiologic technologist in a health care facility. May evaluate a students' ability to perform procedures & ensures student attains objectives of each competency.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains medical imaging records in appropriate systems and in accordance with department policies and standards for interpretation in a timely manner.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains clinical competency and demonstrates proficiency to work in assigned patient care area(s).</p> </li><li> <p>Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other duties as assigned.</p> </li></ol> <p>Education: HS GRAD/EQUIVALENT</p> <p>Other Information:</p> <p>Required: BLS, CT State RT License or New Graduates under CT Temporary Practice Provisions, Valid ARRT, Continuing education, 24 CEU credits for license. Maintains current knowledge of professional discipline & educational methodologies through continuing professional development. Experience with patient care in a radiology setting.</p> <p>Minimum Experience: zero to six months</p> <p>Credentials:</p> <ul> <li>American Registry of Radiologic Technologists </li><li>Radiographer </li><li>New Graduates under CT Temporary Practice Provisions </li></ul> <p>Education: Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology or graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program</p> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <p>Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity</p> <p>Occupational: Significant occupational risk</p> <p>Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort.
