<p>Purpose Statement</p> <p>The job of Principal (Elementary/Middle) is done for the purpose/s of directing overall site operations,</p> <p>services, and staff at a designated Elementary or Middle School; providing instructional leadership to staff</p> <p>including curriculum planning, review, and implementation; providing information and serving as the</p> <p>resource/liaison between the school and community and between the school's staff and the</p> <p>Board/Resource Office; supervising students and professional staff; creating and maintaining a school</p> <p>climate and culture that ensures the safety and welfare of students and staff; enforcing established policies</p> <p>and regulatory requirements; coordinating school activities; and addressing issues, situations, and/or</p> <p>problems that arise on campus or with enrolled students.</p> <p>This job reports to Chief Academic Officer</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <p>Collects student achievement data (e.g. standardized tests, end of course exams, etc.) for the purpose</p> <p>of tracking student academic progress, informing instruction, and reporting to internal and external</p> <p>stakeholders, Board and state educational entities.</p> <p>Delegates responsibility for a variety of administrative functions to Assistant Principal and other</p> <p>personnel for the purpose of managing the workload more efficiently.</p> <p>Evaluates assigned personnel for the purpose of ensuring that standards are achieved and performance</p> <p>is maximized.</p> <p>Facilitates communication between personnel, students, and/or parents/guardians for the purpose of</p> <p>evaluating situations, solving problems, and/or resolving conflicts.</p> <p>Implements policies, procedures, and/or processes for the purpose of providing direction and/or</p> <p>complying with mandated requirements.</p> <p>Leads meetings (e.g. curriculum, safety, scheduling, site advisory, etc.) for the purpose of coordinating</p> <p>activities and ensuring that outcomes achieve school, network, and/or state objectives.</p> <p>Manages school administrative functions (e.g. facility maintenance, staffing, security, emergency drills,</p> <p>etc.) for the purpose of maintaining safe and efficient school operations within network guidelines.</p> <p>Monitors 3rd-party partners who provide services for the school site (e.g. mentoring program, cafeteria</p> <p>workers, custodial service, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining the efficient operation of the school.</p> <p>Oversees site budgets and expenditures for the purpose of ensuring compliance with budget parameters</p> <p>established by the network.</p> <p>Oversees development, implementation, and monitoring of school site plan for the purpose of ensuring</p> <p>accountability and aligning with collective objectives/goals of network.</p> <p>Participates in the hiring process for all school site teachers and support staff (e.g. guidance counselors,</p> <p>social workers, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of quality academic instruction and</p> <p>social/emotional support for students and their families.</p> <p>Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars (e.g. trainings, professional development</p> <p>planning/delivery, Board meetings, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information</p> <p>required to perform functions.</p> <p>Prepares a wide variety of materials (e.g. site marketing and recruitment, student activities, monthly</p> <p>Board reports, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or</p> <p>conveying information for stakeholders and the community.</p> <p>Presents information (e.g. student achievement results, monthly Board reports, etc.) for the purpose of</p> <p>communicating information, gaining feedback, and ensuring transparency in the operation of the school</p> <p>site.</p> <p>Provides appropriate quality professional development opportunities for staff for the purpose of</p> <p>supporting continuous improvement of quality of instruction and instructional delivery for students.</p> <p>Supervises instructional and non-instructional personnel for the purpose of monitoring performance,</p> <p>providing for professional growth, and achieving overall objectives of school's curriculum.</p> <p>Other Functions</p> <p>Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the school site.</p>
