This role will rate food and products according to company and USDA guidelines, accepting or rejecting products based on condition, damage, and temperature. You will maintain necessary records, inform buyers on product quality, and ensure you are working with management to reduce waste. You will be trained and will train personnel on proper food handling, storage, rotation, and selection of product.</p> <p>Job Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Inspects all incoming shipments of assigned product groups, as well as products stored in the warehouse, may rate products according to Company and USDA specifications </li><li>Maintains necessary inspections and rejection records </li><li>Accepts or rejects product based on condition, short weight, transit damage, grade, temperature, and other reasons </li><li>May reject product without further consultation if a product doesn't meet the Company's requirements/standards </li><li>Learn and comply with SQF and food safety policies </li><li>Conducts daily cooler walks to verify all dated Fresh including dairy, meat, deli, bakery, poultry, and prepared foods inventory has sufficient dating for shipment based on established minimum dating and verify Produce quality, reporting results to the QA Supervisor </li><li>Makes recommendations to management regarding reduction in shrink </li><li>May organize shipping schedule for all items having different degrees of maturity, give shipping instructions to the assembly via warehouse supervision </li><li>Ensures that shipping crews are provided with daily information on lots to be shipped </li><li>Other departmental needs such as Data entry, return processing, cleaning, sorting, training, and other tasks assigned by management </li></ul> <p>Job Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Able to learn the standards for USDA Good Delivery guidelines </li><li>Strong attention to detail </li><li>Able to operate or be trained and certified to operate lift equipment </li><li>Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available </li></ul> <p>Physical Environment</p> <ul> <li>Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently </li><li>Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees to 55 degrees Fahrenheit </li><li>Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist and hand movements required for maintenance and service procedures </li><li>Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment </li><li>Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties </li><li>Ability to operate work-related equipment </li><li>Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus </li></ul> <p>UNFI is an Equal Opportunity employer committed to creating an inclusive and respectful environment for all.
