Performs advanced safety diagnostic testing to detect areas of non-conformance and limit potential health and safety issues caused by energy efficiency improvements. This is technical work involved in implementing energy efficiency measures under the state energy conservation and weatherization assistance programs. This section is responsible for the inspection of public water systems, provision of on-site technical assistance, and the training and licensure of water system operators. While you will have the opportunity to interact with water system personnel, and water professionals throughout the State, your primary responsibilities will be providing assistance and oversight to public water systems within a seven-county region of Southeastern Nebraska. We recruit, hire, train, and promote in all job classifications and at all levels without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability, marital status, or genetics."</p> <p>Location and address of position: 245 Fallbrook Blvd - Suite 100 - Lincoln, NE</p> <p>Work schedule: Monday - Friday - 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Flexible schedule, 10-hour workdays allowed after six-month probation and/or with management approval.</p> <p>Job Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Monitors and assists Community Action Partnership (CAP) and non-profit agencies contracting with the DWEE, as sub-grantees under the federal low-income Weatherization Assistance Program; reviews records and conducts on-site inspection of jobs completed; assists in solving problems regarding special weatherization situations and also the regulatory processes of the program. </li><li>Verifies work performed against project plans and Building Check and Job Orders. </li><li>Reviews and verifies accuracy of internal energy audits conducted by sub-grantees. </li><li>Refers to Standard Work Specifications, which are included in the Nebraska Field Guide and Installation Standards to ensure improvements are made in compliance with the applicable code, local jurisdiction, or industry standard. </li><li>Verifies and confirms that the work performed is in compliance with State, Federal and local guidelines. </li><li>Utilizes diagnostic tools and conducts field measurements to evaluate the energy efficiency of a home or facility and identify areas for savings. </li><li>Utilizes diagnostic tools to conduct health and safety tests of residences and facilities. </li><li>Prepare professional reports, on the basis of on-site inspections, to provide a structural analysis and specific recommendations for energy use improvement. Gathers and analyzes data pertinent to the monitoring and evaluation of energy programs. </li><li>Formulates corrective actions for health risks realized as a result of investigations and/or inspections. </li><li>Monitors implementation of corrective actions and implementation schedules to insure resolution of problem situations. </li><li>Contacts private firms, citizen groups and individuals to encourage participation in energy conservation programs. </li><li>Performs related work as required. </li></ul> <p>Requirements / Qualifications:</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in the physical sciences, natural sciences, environmental science, geology, biology, agronomy, civil engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering or a related field. Experience may substitute for education or a year-for-year basis. Experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.</p> <p>Other :</p> <ul> <li>Incumbents must possess a Quality Control Inspector (QCI) Certification issued by Building Performance Institute, Inc., or have the ability to obtain QCI certification within 9 months of hire date as a condition of continued employment. </li><li>Valid driver's license or ability to provide independent transportation </li><li>Ability to travel with occasional overnight stays </li><li>Ability to lift 50 pounds </li><li>Ability to climb a 20-foot ladder </li><li>Ability to climb, bend and stoop </li><li>Ability to walk on muddy, icy, uneven terrains and steep slopes to accomplish tasks </li><li>Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance. </li><li>Must submit a resume or list on the application specific detailed experience relevant to the position in years and months </li><li>Must submit a current list of at least professional references (previous employers) with valid telephone numbers </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:</p> <p>Knowledge of: building types and systems that use energy; residential and commercial design and mechanical operations; construction methods, materials, and practices; data collection, analysis, organization, and report preparation processes; energy issues and trends; state and federal regulations pertaining to energy conservation programs; energy conservation concepts; technical and engineering processes.</p> <p>Ability to: communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; work with a variety of people with diverse interests and backgrounds; use customer service focus with integrity and respect; present new ideas and observations to a variety of people in an easily understood manner; work effectively with intergovernmental agencies, utility companies, and other organizations; assemble and analyze large quantities of data, prepare professional reports and present information effectively; analyze situations individually and organize information to reach and make appropriate decisions; plan, conduct and evaluate workshops.</p> <p>Skill in: carrying out research projects through completion; mathematical and statistical functions; technical writing and public relations; record keeping and organizing information.</p> <p>Benefits</p> <p>We offer a comprehensive package of pay, benefits, paid time off, retirement and professional development opportunities to help you get the most out of your career and life.
