<p>REPORTS TO:</p> <p>Elementary Principal</p> <p>EMPLOYMENT STATUS:</p> <p>Regular, full time</p> <p>FLSA STATUS:</p> <p>Exempt</p> <p>POSITION SUMMARY:</p> <p>Assist children with the development of the skills and knowledge that lead to competence and maturity.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Assess student achievement continuously, in order to design appropriate instruction. Administer standardized and criterion referenced tests according to district policies and procedures. </li><li>Establish a safe and comfortable environment for students, including reasonable guidelines and appropriate consequences for behavior. </li><li>Develop a thorough knowledge of the courses of study and implement them in the classroom, using a variety of instructional methods and materials. </li><li>Prepare clear and timely lesson plans, as required by the Principal that demonstrate knowledge of the courses of study and contain sound teaching and assessment methods. </li><li>Provide instruction that is appropriate for all students. </li><li>Schedule instructional time according to district and building guidelines. </li><li>Make effective use of resources and materials and care for them in a responsible manner. </li><li>Provide opportunities for students to share their achievements and display their products; for example, book publishing, fairs, bulletin board displays, contests and productions. </li><li>Keep accurate and detailed records, according to district and building rules. Record keeping requirements may vary with teaching assignments. </li><li>Prepare adequately for substitute teachers. </li><li>Observe the adopted daily building schedule, including starting and ending times for teachers and students, and perform all assigned duties; for example, cafeteria, recess, bus, hallway, field trips, emergency drills. </li><li>Attend all staff meetings, unless excused. </li><li>Serve on committees and participate in school activities in a professionally responsible manner. </li><li>Report to parents, in writing and at conferences, at regular intervals established by the district and/or building. The number and nature of reports may vary with the teaching assignment. </li><li>Communicate with parents on an ongoing basis, in a positive manner. </li><li>Work cooperatively with peers, administrators and support staff. </li><li>Make appropriate referrals of students for supplemental help; attend planning meetings as assigned, and implement individual plans. </li><li>Communicate with agencies, authorities and private practitioners, according to confidentiality guidelines and other district procedures. </li><li>Learn and implement the administrative procedures associated with the teaching assignment; for example, applying for a field trip. </li><li>Engage in continuous professional growth, including attending training sessions as assigned. Complete a professional development plan according to procedures adopted by the school district. </li><li>Use sound judgment, tact and diplomacy when interacting with students, parents and the community, and maintain the confidentiality of information that is not public domain. </li><li>Serve as a role model for students in the practice of ethical principles, responsible behavior and democratic values. </li></ul> <p>OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Assist with the selection of textbooks and other teaching materials. </li><li>Work with student teachers if needed. </li><li>Maintain an appropriate personal appearance. </li><li>Observe all safety and health regulations of the school district. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal, the Superintendent or his/her designees. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university </li><li>Appropriate State of Ohio teaching certificate/license. </li><li>Alternative to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate. </li></ul> <p>REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of the appropriate academic areas and a variety of instructional designs and methods </li><li>Ability to work effectively with other adults in many different situations, including teams of teachers and conferences with parents. </li><li>Knowledge of child development and age appropriate activities. </li><li>Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. </li><li>Effective active listening skills. </li><li>Well developed organizational and problem solving skills. </li><li>Basic knowledge of computer technology, or willingness to acquire and appropriately apply such knowledge. </li></ul> <p>EQUIPMENT OPERATED:</p> <ul> <li>Various office machines and instructional equipment, such as calculators, copiers, laminating machines, VCR's, DVD players, slide projectors. </li><li>Computer/printer. </li></ul> <p>WORKING CONDITIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue. </li><li>Occasional operation of a vehicle in inclement weather; that is, being prepared to come to school on all scheduled work days, except calamity days. </li><li>Some interaction with unruly children. </li><li>Potential interaction with angry or distraught adults. </li><li>Must be available for education related purposes outside the instructional day when requested to do so under reasonable terms. </li><li>Regular requirement to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, read, reach with hands and arms. </li><li>Occasional requirement to lift, carry, push and pull various items; for example, books and supplies, up to a maximum of 25 lbs. </li></ul> <p>NOTE: The above lists may not be ranked in order of importance.</p> <p>CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:</p> <ul> <li>Length of Employment: One Year Limited Contract </li><li>Salary and Fringe Benefits: Based on Current Salary and Benefit Schedule </li></ul> <p>ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:</p> <p>Please submit a letter of interest and resume to the online application.
