U.S. citizenship is a requirement of this clearance process under federal law.</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>You will join the Digital Platforms group focusing on enterprise initiatives and technical projects. This multifaceted environment offers an outstanding opportunity to craft the future of our digital offerings.</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>This position is a site-based role with the opportunity to work at one of our three locations: Oakwood Village, Ohio; Madison, Wisconsin; or Tewksbury, Massachusetts.</p> <p>What you will do:</p> <ul> <li>Define and develop verifiable requirements and software builds. </li><li>Write technical documentation for software architecture, development, and verification plans. </li><li>Develop software requirements, architectures, and build fault-tolerant systems </li><li>Participate in all aspects of software development, systems integration, test execution, issue resolution, and reviews. </li><li>Collaborate and communicate effectively with software, hardware, and test engineers across the team. </li></ul> <p>How you will get here:</p> <p>Education:</p> <p>BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Mathematics, or equivalent work experience with 3+ years of related experience.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>3+ years of years of Python application development </li><li>Experience with MQTT or other message brokers </li><li>Experience developing and deploying applications under Linux environment </li><li>Knowledge of modular, maintainable coding practices for embedded/gateway applications. </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Experience in AWS IoT Core and AWS Greengrass v2 components development. </li><li>Ability to develop, package, and deploy custom Greengrass components in Python. </li><li>Experience setting up secure IoT communication between devices and the AWS cloud using IoT policies, certificates, and device shadows. </li><li>Experience working with AWS SDK for Python (boto3) for IoT and cloud interactions. </li><li>Experience with Linux-based IoT gateways (system configuration, networking, security hardening). </li><li>Familiarity with system services, logging, and debugging tools for device operation. </li><li>Experience with IAM roles/policies, IoT Things, and IoT Groups for device security and management. </li><li>Ability to configure and manage cloud-side resources (e.g., Lambda functions, S3 storage, DynamoDB, MQTT topics) to integrate with IoT Core. </li><li>Understanding of TLS, certificates, and secure communication protocols for IoT devices. </li><li>Capability to diagnose connectivity problems between the gateway and AWS IoT Core (firewall, ports, MQTT topics). </li></ul> <p>General Skills</p> <ul> <li>Strong debugging and problem-solving skills in distributed IoT systems. </li><li>Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and source control (GitHub). </li><li>Good documentation and interpersonal skills for working with cross-functional teams. </li></ul> <p>Join us at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. and contribute to our mission of enabling our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer.
