This is a 24 Hour/7 Days a week operation.</p> <p>Who May Apply?</p> <p>All persons legally authorized to work in the United States</p> <p>Previous candidates need not reapply</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>The IT Security Specialist is responsible for IT Security including research, development, implementation, testing and review of the organization's information security to protect information and prevent unauthorized access.</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for keeping City employees informed about security measures, explain potential threats, install software, implement security measures and proactively monitor networks. </li><li>Act as representative regarding the organization's security strategy, working with law enforcement while pursuing sources of attacks and when dealing with theft of information. </li><li>Manage data loss and fraud prevention, security architecture, identity and access management, investigation and forensics. </li><li>Plan and test responses to security breaches. </li><li>Analyze IT specifications to assess security risks. </li><li>Conduct periodic audits to determine security violations and inefficiencies. </li><li>Monitor network activity to identify vulnerable points; communicate them to IT teams. </li><li>Identify service issues, update and escalate as required to determine emergency procedure to resolve service. </li><li>Proactively investigating suspicious activities, ensuring that potential security incidents are correctly defended, identified, analyzed, investigated and escalated. </li><li>Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops as needed. </li><li>May be asked to perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Requires an Associates degree </li><li>Minimum of two (2) years of related experience </li><li>A combination of education and pertinent experience may be considered </li><li>Must be able to pass a Criminal Justice Information Security (CJIS) background check </li><li>A valid driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire </li></ul> <p>Other Information:</p> <p>Benefits</p> <p>The City offers an excellent benefit package that includes:</p> <ul> <li>Texas Municipal Retirement System - TMRS is a required retirement plan for all full-time employees.
