<p>The Office of Civil Rights Compliance (OCRC) is seeking a Deputy Title IX Coordinator & Assistant Director. This position assists the Title IX Coordinator with policy and procedure development and provides functional supervision for the grievance process pool. The position responds to employee, student, or visitor reports of sex discrimination, sex-based harassment, sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, domestic/dating violence, and stalking to provide complaint resolution and supportive measure options. The position coordinates the response process, provides advice on next steps, and assesses the need for referrals by working with campus partners including human resource representatives, law enforcement, threat managers, associate deans and provosts, and employee and labor relations. The position works with complainants and respondents throughout the response, complaint, and resolution process. The position serves as an adaptable resolution facilitator. Responsibilities require a high degree of discretion and independent judgment. The Deputy Title IX Coordinator is expected to balance the rights, needs and wishes of involved individuals with institutional obligations.</p> <p>There is an expectation that the person in this position will maintain effective, civil, and respectful working relationships with the University of Iowa campus community and uphold the University's commitment to creating welcoming and respectful environments for all.</p> <p>This position is eligible for hybrid work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.</p> <p>Investigation, Remediation and Reporting of Complaints and Reviews</p> <ul> <li>Complete initial assessment of new reports of sex discrimination, sexual harassment and sexual misconduct. </li><li>Collaborate with campus partners to ensure problems are addressed and that regulatory and legal requirements are met. </li><li>Serve as an adaptable resolution facilitator. </li><li>Provide policy and procedure education to complainants, respondents, and their advisors. </li></ul> <p>Consultation, Risk Assessment and Interpretation/Research of Regulations</p> <ul> <li>Monitor expert external interpretations of regulations and other legal requirements. </li><li>Serve as the chairperson for the UI Anti-violence Coalition in the absence of the Title IX Coordinator. </li><li>Conduct peer comparisons as needed. </li><li>Stay abreast of current news affecting risk and compliance. </li></ul> <p>Policy Development</p> <ul> <li>Make recommendations with respect to policy improvement. </li><li>Participate in writing and amending policies and procedures. </li></ul> <p>Training and Educational Programs</p> <ul> <li>Create and deliver training content. </li><li>Identify and make recommendations for training and education needs across campus. </li></ul> <p>Human Resources & Financial Management</p> <ul> <li>Provide functional supervision for members of the Title IX grievance process pool. </li><li>Assist with hiring of new staff in department at the direction of the Director. </li><li>Assist with developing and implementing orientation and training of new staff. </li></ul> <p>For a complete job description, please contact Libby Kleppe at libby-kleppe@uiowa.edu</p> <p>Education Requirement</p> <ul> <li>Juris Doctorate, master's degree in higher education or related field; or 5 years of equivalent combination of education and civil rights investigation experience. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of 3 years conducting civil rights investigations in higher education, a state or federal commission, or human resource management. </li><li>Demonstrated knowledge what constitutes sex discrimination, sex-based harassment, sexual misconduct, domestic/dating violence, and stalking. </li><li>Working knowledge of and ability to use office support tools available on desktop (e.g. calendar, word processing, email, database, presentation and spreadsheets). </li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to manage work independently and meet deadlines. </li></ul> <p>Desirable Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience working in higher education. </li><li>Experience with crisis response and management. </li><li>Public speaking or training delivery experience. </li><li>Project management or professional writing experience. </li></ul> <p>Application and Position Details</p> <ul> <li> <p>In order to be considered for an interview, applicants must upload the following documents and mark them as a "Relevant File" to the submission:</p> </li><li> <p>Resume</p> </li><li> <p>Cover Letter</p> </li><li> <p>Job openings are posted for a minimum of 14 calendar days.
