You play a critical role in ensuring public safety, supporting development, and preserving infrastructure. You will also assist with different projects, including the upcoming City-wide LED streetlight conversion and many more.</p> <p>You might be the ideal person to join a team striving for excellence if you:</p> <ul> <li>Are skilled in building relationships and finding common ground among multi-disciplinary teams, including developers, consultants, contractors, residents, and city leaders. </li><li>Like working on various projects, from locates for fiber, streetlight and traffic signals as well as inspecting the right-of-way for permitting approval. </li><li>Are organized, can multi-task, stay on track, and manage several projects simultaneously. </li><li>Possess a strong work ethic and willingness to learn. </li><li>Desire career growth and development in the construction management field. </li><li>Take pride in your work and continue to strive for more. </li></ul> <p>Your work responsibilities may include:</p> <ul> <li>Conducting inspections of right-of-way construction and restoration by utility companies and their subcontractors to ensure compliance with City ordinance standards. </li><li>Conducting initial inspections of permitted utility work within the Right-Of-Way, including but not limited to driveways, sidewalks, and back-of-curb installations. </li><li>Verifying required right-of-way permits have been obtained, verifying project information, including contractor information, and ensuring proper restoration of right-of-way surrounding work areas. </li><li>Providing streetlight and fiber locates on the city-owned system; working with One Call locating service to ensure quality locates of the City's streetlight, traffic signal systems and fiber optic network. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Requirements: Two (2) years of experience in the municipal or utility service industry or equivalent experience. An associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Construction Technology or Engineering would be equivalent to two (2) years of experience.</p> <p>Certifications and Trainings required to have or be able to achieve within the time frame determined by the Director of Public Works include ABC's of BMPs, Erosion and Sediment Control Done Right, and KDOT's Inspection Course for Basic Structures, Asphalt, and Concrete Paving.</p> <p>Preferred Requirements: Experience in a Right-of-Way Technician role at a municipality or public works.</p> <p>Starting rate of pay: $23.85 - $29.82 / hour, DOQ</p> <p>Accepting applications through August 4, 2025.</p> <p>Additional Information: At the City of Leawood, we understand that a healthy work-life balance is essential for the success and well-being of our employees.
