<p>Duties</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>Direct planning, implementation and evaluation of professional development of certified and support staff of</p> <p>the department.</p> <p>Demonstrates knowledge of best practices in instruction and classroom management.</p> <p>Demonstrates knowledge of state and federal laws, regulations and guidelines regarding special education</p> <p>programs and services.</p> <p>Uses data informed decision making systems to facilitate, develop, implement, monitor and evaluate district</p> <p>and special education programs and to ensure compliance.</p> <p>Participates in the recruitment, hiring, supervision and evaluation process for special education staff.</p> <p>Establish annual goals that align with district goals and mission statement.</p> <p>Coordinate the planning and implementation of curricula and assessment materials used by students served by</p> <p>the department.</p> <p>Collaborates and communicates with the Board, district administrators, special education teachers, general</p> <p>education teachers, support staff, parents, students and, if necessary, outside agencies for the purpose of</p> <p>implementing and maintaining special education services and programs with fiscal efficiency.</p> <p>Demonstrates fiscal responsibility, prepares/manages budgets, manages/monitors grants, directs spending, and</p> <p>monitors maintenance of effort for the purpose of fiscal efficiency in providing required services.</p> <p>Identify and recommend facility needs for students served by the department.</p> <p>Communicates and supports a philosophy of least restrictive environment for students with special needs, both</p> <p>with district special education programming and out of district placements.</p> <p>Coordinates, facilitates and attends intake meetings, child review conferences, initial IEP conferences, annual</p> <p>review IEP conferences, change of placement IEPs, 504 meetings and other meetings as assigned by the</p> <p>Director of Special Education.</p> <p>Monitor and manage special education interventions.</p> <p>Monitor and provide professional development to staff in providing appropriate transition services for all</p> <p>secondary students with IEPS.</p> <p>Monitor the training and use of CPI for all staff as well as ongoing data management aligned for ISBE rules</p> <p>and regulations.</p> <p>Reviews and analyzes relevant state and district data for the purpose of increasing student achievement and</p> <p>program improvements.</p> <p>Demonstrates effective utilization of technology for program improvement including but not limited to</p> <p>knowledge of Google, Excel and Embrace IEP.</p> <p>Prepares reports and other information as assigned by the Director of Special Education.</p> <p>Demonstrates professionalism in all aspects of the supervisor's role within the district and community.</p> <p>Actively attends and/or is engaged in community activities including professional and community</p> <p>organizations, student extra curricular activities and monthly Board meetings.</p> <p>Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Minimum of a M.S. in School Administration with a valid Professional Educator License (PEL) with</p> <p>Administrative or Superintendent Endorsement and endorsement in at least one area of Special Education.</p> <p>Prior experience as an administrator and completion of teacher evaluation modules, preferred.</p> <p>Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and time management skills.</p> <p>Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.</p> <p>Ability to climb stairs.</p> <p>Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.</p> <p>Must have reliable transportation.</p> <p>Salary/Benefits</p> <p>$80,000-$90,000</p> <p>Additional Notes</p> <p>SUPERVISOR OF SPECIAL EDUCATION - 10 ½ months (212 days)</p> <p>PRIMARY FUNCTION: Instructional and program leadership for special education staff</p> <p>SUPERVISOR: Director of Special Education</p> <p>Link to District/Third Party Online Application Web Page</p> <p>https://skyward.iscorp.com/AltonCMTYSD11ILBus/ApplicantTracking/JobBoard/ViewJobPostings</p> <p>Email Address</p> <p>kkinder@altonschools.org</p> <p>School District</p> <p>https://www.altonschools.org/</p> <p>Position Website</p> <p>https://skyward.iscorp.com/AltonCMTYSD11ILBus/ApplicantTracking/JobBoard/ViewJobPostings</p> <p>ILearn Link</p> <p>ILearn</p> <p>Report Card Link</p> <p>District Report Card</p> <p>Job Posting Date</p> <p>4/1/2026</p> <p>Application Deadline</p> <p>4/10/2026</p> <p>Start Date</p> <p>7/1/2026</p>
