<p>THE POSITION</p> <p>The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) is eager to welcome a highly motivated Pennsylvania attorney with experience in highly responsible and complex professional legal work to the PUC Law Bureau. This position advises Commissioners and their assistants, bureau directors, and other Commission employees on various legal, procedural, ethical and policy matters through verbal and written communications. If you have professional legal experience which provided exposure to governmental regulatory law (regarding public utilities) or administrative law, we encourage you to apply today.</p> <p>DESCRIPTION OF WORK</p> <p>This position advises Commissioners and their assistants, bureau directors, and other Commission employees on various legal, procedural, ethical and policy matters through verbal and written communications. This position also represents the Commission in difficult and complex cases before state and federal appellate courts, before federal agencies (primarily the FCC and FERC), before the Independent Regulatory Review Commission (IRRC), and PA Office of Open Records (OOR). This position prepares memoranda, reports, legal opinions, draft orders and proposed regulations for Commissioners, the Chief Counsel, client bureaus, other agencies, and the general public. The well-qualified candidate will have three years of progressively responsible professional legal experience, with some experience in highly responsible and complex professional legal work which provided exposure to governmental regulatory law (regarding public utilities) or administrative law.</p> <p>Interested in learning more? Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description.</p> <p>Work Schedule and Additional Information:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Full-time employment</p> </li><li> <p>Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.</p> </li><li> <p>Telework: This position is headquartered in Harrisburg. Part-time telework is a potential feature of this position. Successful candidates are required to report to the headquarters worksite daily, unless the employee meets eligibility requirements and telework has been approved by the Director.</p> </li><li> <p>To be eligible to participate in telework, the employee's Alternate (telework) Worksite must meet the following requirements. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.</p> </li></ul> <p>REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Three years of progressively responsible professional legal experience, with some experience in highly responsible and complex professional legal work which provided exposure to governmental regulatory law (regarding public utilities)/administrative law and graduation from an approved school of law; or </li><li>Any equivalent combination of experience and training. </li></ul> <p>Necessary Special Requirement:</p> <ul> <li>Possession of a certificate of admission to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania; or eligibility for such certification. </li></ul> <p>Additional Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>You must possess at least three years of demonstrated experience in administrative law proceedings before Pennsylvania or federal agencies. </li><li>You must possess at least three years of demonstrated experience in original jurisdiction or appellate proceedings before Pennsylvania or federal courts. </li><li>You must be able to perform essential job functions. </li></ul> <p>How to Apply:</p> <ul> <li>Resumes, cover letters, and similar documents will not be reviewed, and the information contained therein will not be considered for the purposes of determining your eligibility for the position.
