<p>The Medical Assistant in Podiatry provides care under the supervision of the Physician. Obtains vital signs and performs x-rays of the foot. Obtains relevant medical information and records it in EMR. The medical assistant also performs front-end clerical operations of the practice including but not limited to reception, scheduling, check-out, and answering phones.</p> <p>naEDUCATION:</p> <p>Minimum:</p> <p>⢠High School Degree or equivalent</p> <p>Preferred:</p> <p>⢠Graduate from an accredited school for Medical Assistant.</p> <p>LICENSE:</p> <p>PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Minimum:</p> <p>⢠BLS required through RQI.</p> <p>⢠Must successfully completed NYS approved course for podiatry x-ray within 6 months of hire.(NYS Podiatry Radiology Course for Unlicensed Persons (nysed.gov) or Radiology Course For Podiatric (unlicensed) Assistants (nyspma.org))</p> <p>Preferred:</p> <p>⢠Certification obtained from a Medical Assistant School licensed by New York State preferred.</p> <p>WORK EXPERIENCE:</p> <p>Minimum:</p> <p>⢠Prior experience in a physician office or other medical setting, or completion of accredited school for Medical Assistants.</p> <p>⢠Must demonstrate assessment skills for both adults and children.</p> <p>⢠Working knowledge of emergency intervention and available resources.</p> <p>Preferred:</p> <p>⢠Prior experience as a Medical Assistant in a Podiatry practice.</p> <p>SKILLS:</p> <p>Minimum:</p> <p>⢠Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner.</p> <p>⢠Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.</p> <p>⢠Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills.</p> <p>⢠Computer literacy.</p> <p>Preferred:</p> <p>⢠Experience with Microsoft Office products and electronic medical record</p>
