<p>POSITION SUMMARY</p> <p>The Adjunct Clinical Instructor in the associate degree Nursing Education Program at the Community College of Colorado is a part-time position responsible for teaching nursing students in the clinical setting. This role supports the clinical skill development and practical application of nursing skills under the direct supervision of nursing faculty. This position provides a unique opportunity for an experienced nurse to contribute to the Community College of Aurora's mission by teaching and mentoring the next generation of nursing professionals in the clinical setting within their specialized nursing field.</p> <p>This is an ongoing open position, with multiple hiring opportunities to meet the needs of the Nursing Education Program. The role may involve continuous recruitment for various adjunct clinical instructor positions throughout the academic school year, as clinical assignments and student enrollment fluctuate. We are seeking adjunct clinical instructors across all nursing specialties, including medical-surgical, pediatrics, obstetrics, and psychiatric.</p> <p>OVERVIEW OF CCA</p> <p>The Community College of Aurora serves our diverse community by providing high-quality instruction and support services to prepare students for transfer and employment. <p>DUTIES& RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Clinical Instruction & Supervision </li><li>Provide clinical instruction under the supervision of nursing faculty. </li><li>Teach assigned clinical courses per workload guidelines. </li><li>Plan student assignments based on available learning opportunities. </li><li>Perform direct 1:1 student observation to include supervision of nursing interventions,patientassessments,andmedicationadministrationintheclinical environment to ensure safe practice and mastery of skills. </li><li>Communicate attendance policies clearly to students and record student attendance in the Course Key App. </li><li>Attend a required adjunct clinical instructor orientation. </li><li>Review and explain student handbook guidelines and procedures at the start of the semester, including clinical schedules, locations, required materials, and communication methods for absences or delays. </li><li>Ensure student compliance with the Nursing Education Program Student Handbook and clinical site policies. </li></ul> <p>Evaluation & Feedback</p> <ul> <li>Provide feedback on student performance, ensuring competency in clinical skills and professional behavior. </li><li>Perform frequent student evaluations utilizing standardized evaluative tools, refer students to remediation as needed, and report unsatisfactory performance to the course lead faculty and Interim DNEP. </li><li>Provide constructive feedback and establish performance expectations if students do not meet competency standards. </li></ul> <p>Student Support</p> <ul> <li>Support student learning by clarifying course material, demonstrating procedures and answering questions. </li><li>Offer guidance and support to students in the clinical setting, answering questions and helping with nursing skills, clinical reasoning, critical thinking and professional development. </li><li>Encourage students to engage in reflective practices and self-assessment, helping them to recognize their strengths and areas for growth in clinical settings </li></ul> <p>Collaboration with Nursing Faculty</p> <ul> <li>Work under the supervision of the course lead faculty to ensure that all clinical activities align with course and program objectives and standards. </li><li>Collaborate with nursing faculty to ensure consistency in teaching, assessment, and grading methods in the clinical setting. </li><li>Maintain communication with the course lead faculty regarding student progress, concerns, and any critical incidents. </li><li>Schedule mid-course and final evaluations with input from the course lead faculty, ensuring observations are validated in collaboration with them. </li><li>Conduct mid-course and final evaluations in consultation with lead faculty. </li><li>Report student issues(e.g. Unsafe practices) to the course lead faculty and Interim DNEP. </li><li>Submit all required clinical paperwork and evaluations at the end of each rotation to the lead course faculty. </li></ul> <p>College and Nursing Education Program Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Adhere to all state regulations, college, and department policies, including confidentiality and compliance training. </li><li>Maintain current credentials and adhere to the health and safety requirements including but not limited to BLS, negative TB, immunization requirements, etc. </li><li>Foster professionalism by modeling ethical and compassionate nursing care. </li><li>Attend required orientations at the College and clinical sites to stay updated on policies and procedures. </li><li>Participate in simulation training. </li><li>Attend college and nursing faculty meetings as requested. </li></ul> <p>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Possess an active current unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in Colorado. </li><li>Must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in nursing from a Nursing Education Program with national nursing accreditation. </li><li>A minimum of two (2) years of full-time (4,000hours) or equivalent, clinical experience as a practicing registered nurse in the last 5 years. </li><li>A minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience relevant to the area(s)of responsibility. </li><li>Must possess or be eligible to obtain a Colorado Career and Technical Education (CTE) Credential. </li><li>Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification. </li><li>Ability to meet the standard health and safety requirements of all clinical facilities. </li><li>Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage confidential materials when working on specific tasks. </li><li>Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment while maintaining an eye for safe and accurate care. </li><li>Extremely resourceful, detail-oriented, and organized. </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFCIATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Graduate degree from a Nursing Education Program with national nursing accreditation. </li><li>Demonstrated clinical supervisory experience (i.e. charge nurse, preceptor, clinical educator, etc.). </li><li>Teaching experience, including skills-based evaluation and assessment. </li></ul> <p>SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION</p> <p>Salary Range:The rate is $52.00 per hour with a BSN and $56.00 per hour with an MSN.
