<p>Job Description:</p> <p>The Ellington Board of Education invites interested candidates to apply for the position of Interim Director of Finance and Operations. Anticipated start date May 1, 2026</p> <p>The Director of Finance and Operations shall:</p> <ul> <li>Develop budget guidelines, coordinate preparation of the budget, and assist administrators in review of the budget. </li><li>Develop a capital needs program for the next five (5) years, and associate it with the District's multi-year planning. </li><li>Prepare appropriate financial reports to record data and provide for management decisions. </li><li>Complete, monitor, and report the activities applicable to state and federal funded activities, including the application of construction grants. </li><li>Plan, organize, and control the overall acquisition, implementation and support of technologies as related to the District's business office. </li><li>Establish procedures for recordkeeping and maintaining all records that audit and legal requirements demand. </li><li>Administer, through the transportation office, a transportation program to meet the Board of Education requirements for the public and nonpublic schools in the District. </li><li>In accordance with the requirements of the programs in which they are employed, coordinate the workers' compensation, medical, dental, life, liability, automobile, and property insurance of all employee contracts. </li><li>Administer a program of plant operation and custodial maintenance; security and property protection; and community use of school facilities as well as supervision of all custodians. </li><li>Administer the school lunch program and cafeteria services in accordance with federal, state and local regulations. </li><li>Administer human resource processes for all non-certified staff in accordance with legal and labor regulations and contractual requirements. </li><li>Performs such other position-related tasks, and assumes such other responsibilities, as the Superintendent of Schools may assign or delegate. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>The successful candidate will meet the following minimum qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Must hold an administrative certificate (085) as a school business administrator from the Connecticut State Department of Education. </li><li>Thorough knowledge of fund accounting, budgeting, and resource management. </li><li>Technical expertise in computer technology for use in financial management. </li><li>Ability to prepare and implement operating plans and programs. </li><li>Managerial skills encompassing organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication. </li><li>Possession of human relations skills to work with all staff as a team player. </li><li>Thorough knowledge of basic human resource management. </li></ul> <p>Please include a cover letter, resume and three letters of recommendation with your application.</p> <p>Applications are due by April 24, 2026</p> <p>Candidates are welcome to contact Oliver Barton, Acting Superintendent of Schools</p>
