<p>The Public Health Educator plays a vital role in improving community health through the design, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based health education and promotion strategies. Under the general supervision of the Public Health Supervisor, the Public Health Educator works to reduce risk factors, prevent disease, and promote wellness among diverse populations across Muskegon County.</p> <p>This position actively participates in community coalitions, builds partnerships, and develops educational content that addresses the root causes of morbidity, mortality, and environmental health challenges. The Public Health Educator collaborates with public, private, civic, and volunteer organizations to advance shared health goals and build healthier communities.1. Possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Health Sciences, Educational Behavioral Health Sciences, Health Promotion, Public Administration, Public Health, Applied Science in Community Health; </p> <p>OR</p> <p>Possess an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Health Sciences, Educational Behavioral Health Sciences, Health Promotion, Public Administration, Public Health, Applied Science in Community Health; AND Have a minimum of four years full-time work experience in health education, behavioral health change, substance abuse prevention; </p> <p>OR</p> <p>Be a high school graduate or have successfully completed the General Educational Development Test (GED); AND</p> <p>Have a minimum of eight years full-time work experience in health education, behavioral health change, substance abuse prevention.</p> <ol start="2"> <li>Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES </li></ol> <p>Primarily sedentary with occasional standing, walking, and lifting of objects weighing thirty-five (35) pounds or less.</p> <p>ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS</p> <p>An employee in this class generally works in the offices of Public Health - Muskegon County, although frequent travel throughout the County will be required.</p> <p>CLICK BELOW FOR JOB DESCRIPTION</p> <p>https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/muskegon/classspecs?keywords=nf570</p> <p>EVALUATION CONTENT</p> <p>Applicants for County employment may be subject to a post-offer criminal background check, depending on the nature and assignment of the position. When such check is conducted, an offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the criminal background check. Appointees must satisfactorily complete a probationary period before the appointment will be considered permanent.</p> <p>APPLICANT REVIEW PROCEDURE</p> <p>Any applicant is entitled to a review of any determination or action taken by the County regarding the applicant's employment application. Inquiries should be directed to the County Human Resources Department.</p> <p>PURPOSE</p> <p>The purpose of this recruitment is to establish an eligible list from which to fill present and future vacancies in this classification in the County system. For each opening, the Department Head has her/his choice of the candidates who meet the required minimum entrance qualifications.
