<p>Position Summary</p> <p>These temporary positions will start with orientation and training on April 20, 2026. Regular duties will begin with the opening of fishing season on May 2, 2026. The positions will work five days per week including all weekends and holidays and three randomly scheduled weekdays. Shifts are 8 hours in length and will vary randomly between morning and evening each day.</p> <p>Successful candidates will report directly to the assigned lake and will be required to provide transportation. Actual miles driven or the equivalent mileage from the home station (whichever is less) will be reimbursed at the current state rate. Weekend hours get an additional $0.80 per hour; evening hours after 6:00 pm get an additional $0.80 per hour; holidays hours are paid at time and a half.</p> <p>These positions are responsible for performing creel clerk duties independently or under general supervision. The positions will interview anglers, identify and measure angler-caught fish, record data, collate and enter the collected data. The positions will also provide information to anglers and the public on local fisheries topics and may also prepare written creel reports.</p> <p>70% A. Independently or under general supervision perform creel survey clerk duties and collect fish information on designated waters.</p> <p>A1. Count all anglers on the designated waters at prescheduled times.</p> <p>A2. Interview anglers.</p> <p>A3. Measure, and identify fish caught.</p> <p>A4. Record data per standard procedures.</p> <p>20% B1. Compile and analyze data and prepare written documentation and/or reports.</p> <p>B2. Proof, compile and file data sheets.</p> <p>B3. Prepare written summary reports in a standardized format, based on data collected.</p> <p>10% C. Train and advise newer LTE Fisheries Technicians performing creel survey duties.</p> <p>Salary Information</p> <p>This position pays between $18.59 - $19.00 per hour and are in pay schedule and range 06-12.</p> <p>Rates offered to selected candidates will depend on the position offered and the qualifications of the candidate.</p> <p>Compensation will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.</p> <p>Job Details</p> <p>This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position and will not automatically lead to permanent state employment or be entitled to the same benefits as permanent employees.</p> <p>More about LTE positions:</p> <p>1) Offer a great opportunity to gain experience and learn about careers at the WI Department of Natural Resources.</p> <p>2) Provide opportunities for individuals to enhance their resumes with skills learned on the job.</p> <p>3) May accommodate flexibility for part-time or full-time work hours and seasonal schedules. Work schedules are dependent on business needs.</p> <p>4) Allow individuals to hold multiple LTE appointments concurrently. If both LTE positions are at the same agency, the positions must be bona fide different positions. Each individual LTE position allows for maximum of 1039 hours in a twelve-month period.</p> <p>Special Requirements:</p> <p>1) Residency: To be considered for this position, you must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin.</p> <p>A Wisconsin resident is a person who:</p> <p>a. Has established a residence, as defined in s. 6.10(1), in this state not less than 10 days earlier;</p> <p>b. Has resided in this state for not less than a total of one year out of the immediately preceding 5 years;</p> <p>c. Is eligible to register to vote in this state; or</p> <p>d. Is the spouse of a person meeting the requirements of par. (a), (b), or (c)." s.230.03(12), Wis. Stats.</p> <p>2) Background Checks: The Department of Natural Resources conducts criminal background checks on final applicants prior to a job offer.
