<p>Job Description and Duties</p> <p>Under the direction of the Office Chief, the Load Rating Branch Chief is responsible for managing all aspects of structural analysis and load rating. The Load Rating Branch Chief is responsible for supervision of staff and management of workload and ensures that bridge analysis of State and Local Agency structures is conducted in accordance with AASHTO and Caltrans bridge design and load rating specifications and that load rating results are in compliance with SM&I and FHWA requirements.</p> <p>The incumbent will be required to respond to various types of bridge emergencies and to direct staff and to coordinate with various Caltrans and outside units to effect emergency repairs. The incumbent will be required to serve on, or chair in-house and national technical committees.</p> <p>During emergency situations the incumbent may be required to work off-peak hours for an extended period of time.</p> <p>The incumbent will be required to provide bridge analysis support to the Structure Permitting Senior (e.g., overweight bridge analysis permitting) and the Maintenance Design Branches.</p> <p>The incumbent may be required to direct staff to provide oversight and quality assurance of consultant bridge load rating projects.</p> <p>Incumbent must possess and maintain a valid certificate of registration as a Civil Engineer in California, and a California Driver's License.</p> <p>PARF# 56-5-213 / JC-476352</p> <p>Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Senior Bridge Engineer exam.
