The successful candidate can take advantage of classroom and in-field trainings to allow for continued education to become specialized in road and construction maintenance operations.</p> <p>Summary of Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Install, replace, and perform routine maintenance on roadway signs. Operate a single axle dump truck to haul materials, snowplows, salt spreaders and mowing machines efficiently and safely. Roadway repairs; shovel blacktop, and perform other roadway maintenance related activities as required. </li><li>Perform brush cutting operations using chain saws, bush axes, or chemical treatments to ensure clear visibility and safety on roadways </li><li>Flag traffic for maintenance crews during operations to guarantee the safety of team members and the public </li><li>Snow removal; effectively operate snowplows and salt spreaders to clear roadways during winter weather conditions </li><li>Work in all types of weather and as a team, and work emergency call outs as needed </li></ul> <p>Ideal candidate will have experience in:</p> <ul> <li>Experience in equipment operations: proven experience operating single axle dump trucks, snowplows, salt spreaders, moving machines, chain saws, bush axes </li><li>Minor repairs and maintenance </li><li>Physical fitness - ability to perform physically demanding tasks which includes shoveling and operating equipment while working on rough terrain and in changing climates </li><li>Working with a team </li></ul> <p>Benefits and perks:</p> <ul> <li>Comprehensive health with optional dental and vision insurance </li><li>Retirement savings </li><li>Professional Development opportunities and ongoing training. </li><li>A collaborative and innovative work environment. </li><li>Employee wellness programs </li><li>On the job trainings </li><li>Shift premium pay for hours worked outside of normal business hours </li></ul> <p>Be able to lift and carry 50 lbs, work on rough terrain, be able to twist, bend, stoop, stand. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials.</p> <p>Working Conditions</p> <p>Incumbents in this job title typically perform their work at a highway maintenance facility or section office, at work sites throughout the assigned work area, and when necessary, district wide. Incumbent will be exposed to risks inherent to working with large equipment and machines involved with road construction.
