<p>POSITION DESCRIPTION: The role of a hatchery maintenance laborer shall be to implement and perform preventative maintenance in the hatchery and breeder farm areas. Throughout the day, he or she will work on equipment or problems as needed by the plant manager. In addition, they will assist other departments as needed in order to complete the daily duties, should they not have anything to complete at the time. All duties are to be performed in an exemplary and professional manner.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for implementing and documenting preventative maintenance programs in both the hatchery and breeder departments. </li><li>Responsible for aiding in the repair of any equipment failure in either department. </li><li>Must ensure that all duties are performed according to all available safety programs (i.e. lock-out/tag-out, etc.) set forth by management. </li><li>Must be available to work in either department should a priority arise with staffing as determined by the immediate supervisor. </li><li>Must inform management if departments are not keeping adequate equipment supplies on hand for replacement or repair. </li><li>Must be responsible for informing management if areas are discovered which pose a hazard to employees or the chickens themselves. </li><li>Must be able to perform duties according to company bio-security policies and disease prevention guidelines. </li><li>Responsible for ensuring that all clothing worn to work each day, including shoes, have been properly disinfected. More detailed information from the supervisor regarding bio-security is available, but proper care should be taken to prevent diseases from being spread. </li><li>Responsible for familiarizing self with all Rose Acre Employee Handbook policies. </li><li>Responsible for familiarizing self with Rose Acre Farms Biosecurity Program policies. </li><li>Must be able to stand, walk, bend, turn and perform other physical actions for extended periods of time and on a regular basis. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:</p> <ul> <li>Must possess good writing and arithmetic skills. </li><li>Must be reliable and be extremely punctual. </li><li>Must be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the job on a routine basis. </li><li>Capable of performing maintenance on a variety of equipment within the hatchery or breeder farms. (Note: adequate training will be provided to deal with specialized areas.) </li><li>Must possess good communication skills and a working knowledge of the English language. </li><li>Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. </li><li>Capable of working late (if needed) past the scheduled leave time to complete the job. </li><li>Capable of working weekend shifts and maintaining a flexible schedule to help the other departments should they need assistance on a particular day.
