<p>Welcome to the SLCC Community!!</p> <p>The Adjunct Medical Coding and Billing in Division of Health Care Technologies faculty member will work with full-time faculty, under general supervision of the Associate Dean, in program and class-related duties such as classroom (including online) instruction, content design and delivery, and student evaluation.</p> <p>The programs are offered in a self-directed, competency-based learning environment using Canvas and face to face instruction at some locations. The instructor will teach the following courses: anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding (CPT, ICD-10, ICD-9, and HCPCS).</p> <p>Essential Responsibilities and Duties</p> <p>Responsibilities & Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Provide instruction in the Medical Coding and Billing program offered through the Division of Health Care Technologies using Canvas and other teaching methods to meet different learning styles of students. </li><li>Deliver competency-based instruction in a self-directed environment to prepare students for industry certifications in related areas. </li><li>Advise students on their program requirements and their progress through the courses. Assess students' abilities and provide appropriate documentation and feedback. </li><li>Coordinate student ADA accommodation requests following college policy and procedures. </li><li>Provide an industry viewpoint to the training program so that students will be prepared to enter the work force. Keep current on technology advances and medical coding guidelines and updates. </li><li>Complete required SLCC training. </li><li>Demonstrate and support professional commitment to division, school, and the college mission and values. </li><li>Attend department meetings when requested. </li><li>Meet college and department deadlines and evaluate student work in a timely manner, including posting final grades. </li><li>Follow SLCC policies and procedures. </li></ul> <p>Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued</p> <p>Responsibilities & Duties Cont.:</p> <ul> <li>Becomes familiar with, and abides by, all college policies with immediate priority given to those policies that govern interactions with colleagues, staff, administrators, and departments throughout the organization </li><li>Maintains professional etiquette in communications with students, staff, faculty, and administrators </li><li>Provides appropriate and timely feedback for all assignments </li><li>Returns graded assignments in a timely fashion per department standards </li><li>Maintains student attendance records (for Financial Aid purposes) and grades </li><li>Conducts a variety of appropriate evaluations of student performance </li><li>Informs students of progress-to-date periodically and assigns and submits grades by published deadlines </li><li>Assists in maintaining a safe and mutually respectful instructional environment </li><li>Prepares and submits incident reports to Dean of Student Services for inappropriate student behavior as defined by the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities Policy </li><li>Maintains professional and collegial behavior </li><li>Handles/responds to student concerns/complaints, and responds to student communications and inquiries promptly (generally within 1-2 days) </li><li>Maintains professional appearance as defined by the discipline and/or College procedure </li><li>Completes all required employee trainings </li><li>Knows and enforces FERPA guidelines </li><li>Provides ADA accommodations as requested </li><li>Other job related duties as needed </li></ul> <p>All Faculty will maintain an on-site campus presence to encourage in-person relationships and create engaging, meaningful, and impactful learning experiences.</p> <p>All SLCC employees must maintain permanent residence/address within the State of Utah to maintain employment. A permanent Utah address must be recorded to Human Resources within 30-days of your employment start date.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Minimum Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Proficient in using computers, computer technology, and computer software related to position </li><li>Professional teaching experience in related field and/or industry </li><li>Ability to apply field-related skills to the development and/or advancement of course content and delivery </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Preferred Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Associates Degree in related field </li><li>AAPC Approved Instructor or CPC-I (Certified Professional Coder/Instructor) or ability to certify </li><li>Three years of work experience in outpatient medical coding/billing or related area </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills & Abilities</p> <p>KSA's:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge and experience in curriculum development in related areas </li><li>Experience as an instructor and/or in related area </li><li>Experience teaching in competency-based open-entry/open-exit individualized adult programs </li><li>Experience teaching students from diverse backgrounds </li><li>Attention to details, excellent documentation, and maintenance of individualized records of student performance </li><li>Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills </li><li>Ability to work without close supervision in a team with diverse membership </li><li>Ability to work within a prescribed curriculum and departmental procedures while maintaining patience, creativity, and cooperative attitude </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, culture, ethnic background, and abilities, to maintain good working relationships across the College </li><li>Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, </li><li>cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities </li></ul> <p>Non-Essential Responsibilities and Duties Special Instructions</p> <p>This is a pooled position.
