<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Nassau Community College invites applications for a full-time Assistant Director position in the Office of Athletics. The Assistant Director will provide a broad range of support to plan, organize, and manage all activities related to all assigned departments/areas, as aligned to the College's Strategic Plan and Goals, using the highest of ethical standards.</p> <p>The Assistant Director will: work expeditiously and diligently on behalf of the institution while operating with a data-informed and equity-focused approach to enhance student access and enrollment in collaboration with multiple internal and external stakeholders; be responsible to assist with development and implementation of all student engagement and retention activities and/or services offered through assigned department(s)/area(s); development and implementation of events/presentations, as assigned; implementation, and maintenance of internal controls and standard operating procedures; all reporting, external and internal, necessary for local, state, regional, and/or federal compliance in assigned area(s); implementation, assessment, and evaluation of policies, processes and procedures related to assigned area(s); identifying and eliminating redundancies in assigned area(s), as well as working collaboratively with other administrators to eliminate redundancies and ensure effective and efficient operation of the College. Coach, coordinate, supervise, and oversee assigned teams, intramurals, and/or open gym events; safely operate College-owned vehicles to transport students to and from various on and off-campus events, and in doing so, ensure vehicle cleanliness and compliance with all traffic laws, and College transportation/ vehicle use policies and/or procedures; prepare, manage, and coordinate of all lodging and transportation arrangements for all Athletic teams, as assigned; analyze data and information to recommend and implement decisions and solve problems; develop, supervise, and direct staff, as assigned; participate in professional development activities; maintain current knowledge of laws, codes, ordinances, regulations, policies, practices, and pending legislation, relative to area(s); work collaboratively with all relevant constituencies in the College and the community to support efforts in assigned areas, and ensure students balance athletic and academic commitments; exhibit fiscal responsibility and accountability in the development and administering of the annual budget for the department; analyze and review budgetary and financial data; control and authorize expenditures in accordance with established resources and limitations, as directed; serve on College committees, as assigned; work effectively with diverse populations; and other duties as assigned.</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree, experience implementing student engagement and retention initiatives; experience coaching athletic teams; 1 year of supervisory experience in a professional setting; 2 years of relevant experience in a post-secondary educational setting involving athletics; and experience with current management system(s) and programs used in higher education and/or the related area(s), including but not limited to Ellucian Banner, PeopleSoft, CourseDog, DegreeWorks, Visio, and Adobe Professional, as well as being proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint).</p> <p>In addition, the successful candidate must have knowledge of current practices relative to athletics, student engagement, and student retention; knowledge of National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) handbook and compliance policies, practices, and/or procedures; knowledge of and strong competency of current skills, techniques, and physical conditioning sufficient to enable athletes to compete safely; familiarity with the mission, goals, and objectives of the College and the demographics of the current student body and staff of the College; knowledge of local community and service area; ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently; knowledge and skill in identifying problems, analyzing data, and making recommendations; high level of emotional intelligence and energy; excellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; ability to develop collaborative relationships with students, faculty, administration, and internal and external constituencies; ability to manage and adapt to change, make difficult decisions, encourage conflict resolution, and assure employee and department accountability; and strong management skills.</p> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>The successful candidate will preferably have a Master's Degree in a related discipline; experience working at a Community College; experience working in a unionized environment; experience coaching at the NJCAA level.</p> <p>Application Instructions:</p> <p>If you qualify and wish to apply, please include the following:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Cover letter</p> </li><li> <p>Updated resume</p> </li><li> <p>A brief statement on how your experience and background can enhance Nassau Community College.</p> </li></ol> <p>Please note all three items are necessary for your submission to be reviewed.</p>
