<p>Position Summary:</p> <p>The Elementary School Counselor (Grades K-1) supports the academic, social, and emotional development of our youngest learners. This position focuses on helping students build foundational skills in emotional regulation, problem-solving, and positive peer interactions. The counselor works closely with students, families, staff, and community agencies to ensure a safe, supportive, and nurturing school environment.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Provide individual and small group counseling. </li><li>De-escalate students in classrooms and other school settings. </li><li>Teach classroom guidance lessons on self-regulation, problem-solving, and positive relationships. </li><li>Support students through stressful situations and daily challenges, navigating peer conflict, anxiety, transitions, and other early childhood challenges. </li><li>Collaborate with parents, teachers, and staff to implement student supports. </li><li>Attend county and community agency meetings as needed and connect families to community services. </li><li>Work designated summer hours to assist with enrollment and registration. </li><li>Maintain and monitor student attendance records. Work closely with the Associate Principal to coordinate attendance meetings with families. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree required (4-year degree). </li><li>School Counseling or Social Work degree preferred. </li><li>Strong communication skills; able to work independently and as a self-starter. </li><li>Trusted professional who maintains confidentiality and builds positive relationships. </li></ul>
