<p>Definition</p> <p>These two full-time positions within the Division of Water Reclamation will be responsible for operating and monitoring wastewater treatment, sludge processing and disposal equipment at Jackson Pike Water Reclamation Plant (JPWRP). This position will operate equipment ancillary to the treatment process and monitor control panels and/or computer terminals, adjust valves and gates to ensure process is operated within design limits. Observes and reports variations in operating conditions, adjusts as directed by interpreting meter and gauge readings, by utilization of visual observation, sounds, and smell. Start and stop pumps, engines, equipment to control flow of sewage/sludge through the treatment process. Monitor and report on the process performance, supply of materials, chemicals, and condition of operating equipment. Performs troubleshooting tasks on equipment and cleans work area; maintains accurate record keeping and completes shift logbooks and reports.</p> <p>The scheduled shift for this position will be for fourth shift: Tuesday-Wednesday 10:45pm-6:45am, Thursday-Friday 2:45pm-10:45pm, Saturday 6:45am-2:45pm</p> <p>To be considered, candidates must have possession of a valid Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) State of Ohio Class I, II, III, or IV Wastewater Operator certificate for wastewater treatment works and possession of a valid driver's license.</p> <p>Salary range$31.51 - $40.01 hourly.</p> <p>Pre-employment drug screening and BCI& I background check are required if selected.</p> <p>Examples of Work</p> <p>(Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all of the duties that may be performed.)</p> <p>Operates a computerized Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA) to monitor the flow and processing of reclaimed water, biosolids, and effluent;</p> <p>Monitors water reclamation treatment and biosolids processing equipment such as pumps, motors, air compressors, blowers, thickeners, valves, and gates;</p> <p>Monitors control panels and computer terminals; makes adjustments or changes manually or by remote control to regulate flow of reclaimed water;</p> <p>Observes variations in operating conditions; logs and interprets readings from computer, meters, gauges, charts, and instruments; observes and reports variations in visual appearance, sounds, or smells;</p> <p>Starts and stops pumps, engines, and generators to control the flow and processing of reclaimed water via computer or operator interface terminals;</p> <p>Maintains legible, accurate records and logs of shift operations; records meter and gauge readings;</p> <p>Monitors and controls the application and supply of chemicals, dissolved oxygen, or other materials to the treatment and processing of sewage and biosolids;</p> <p>Collects sewage samples using dipper or bottle; checks autosamplers for proper operational requirements;</p> <p>Communicates with others performing operations and/or maintenance tasks via phone or two-way radio;</p> <p>Prepares maintenance repair requests; performs minor equipment maintenance including lubrication and light painting;</p> <p>Operates an incinerator by performing inspections and operational tasks as necessary to maintain burner control;</p> <p>Cleans work area including stairs, equipment, floors, and conveyor belts; picks up trash;</p> <p>Trains less experienced operators in functions of specific operational area;</p> <p>Performs field tests such as ammonia concentration-level assessment, percent total solids, temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, and other related tests;</p> <p>May use hand tools and grease guns in the performance of some job duties.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Possession of a valid Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) State of Ohio Class I, II, III, or IV Wastewater Operator certificate for wastewater treatment works.</p> <p>Possession of a valid driver's license.</p> <p>SPECIAL NOTE</p> <p>Applicants currently holding an equivalent operator certification in another state and who are eligible to obtain reciprocity from the Ohio EPA will be considered by the Division of Sewerage and Drainage.
