Discover your opportunities at Yale!</p> <p>Hourly Range</p> <p>31.05</p> <p>Overview The Brady-Johnson Program in Grand Strategy (GS) addresses large-scale, long-term strategic challenges of statecraft, politics, and social change. It offers a year-long course ("Studies in Grand Strategy") to Yale undergraduates and graduate students that encourages understanding of historical and contemporary global and domestic challenges, while developing students' capacity for strategic thinking and effective leadership in various fields. The program hosts many events and private dinners with practitioners such as diplomats, politicians, military personnel, journalists, and social activists in conjunction with the course. The program supports other activities, including pre- and postdoctoral fellowships, student and faculty research, academic conferences, and other scholarly work in grand strategy. The Program?Coordinator will serve as the key point of contact for all administrative, communications, and program support. Working under the guidance of the Director and the Operations Manager, the program coordinator will organize the Program's daily operations, including event planning and management, travel and accommodations for visitors, expense management, classroom support, alumni relations, and communications outreach. Works directly with the Jackson Communications Office on program communications through the website, weekly events emails, and social media channels. Proofreads and edits material for grammatical and factual accuracy. Tracks copy through various editing and production stages. Updates GS calendar and maintains listservs. Helps promote the activities of the Grand Strategy program through internal listservs. Works with Director and co-Director to provide outreach to departments about events and activities associated with the program. Works with Grand Strategy staff to develop and implement outreach campaigns that engage students, faculty, fellows, program alumni, and various stakeholders. This includes planning for alumni events and events related to the application process for Grand Strategy. During peak periods of the semester, Grand Strategy often hosts multiple events per week, some of which require on-site management. Availability is required for some evening and weekend events. Required Skills and Abilities 1. Ability to prioritize, to meet deadlines with conflicting demands, and to multitask effectively. Strong attention to detail, thoroughness and follow-through. Ability to function effectively as part of a team as well as independently. 2. Demonstrated ability with all aspects of event and meeting planning and execution, including developing and assembling meeting materials, arranging rooms, catering, transportation, and hotel accommodations. 3. Excellent office and account management skills. Ability to create and adhere to event budgets and timelines. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential subject matter with discretion. 4. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated highly proficient skills in computer applications, including MS Office Suite. Ability to use Eventbrite, and Zoom. Knowledge of mail merge procedures. Ability and willingness to learn and work with new technology and programs, including the Program's event calendar system. 5. Superior interpersonal skills and ability to relate comfortably and knowledgeably with dignitaries, leaders, faculty, students, and staff with a highly professional demeanor and strong customer service skills. Sensitivity to and ability to maintain confidentiality of information and materials. Preferred Education, Experience and Skills Demonstrated ability and flexibility in a high-pressure, fast-paced, and complex environment to manage multiple, time sensitive assignments with minimal supervision. Ability to independently prioritize work with strong attention to detail and accuracy. Highly motivated and creative, with a positive, can-do attitude.</p> <p>Principal Responsibilities</p> <ol> <li>Oversees and coordinates program activities. Establishes, selects, implements, and coordinates administrative functions, procedures, and systems. 2. Based on knowledge of and experience with program activities, objectives and staff, serves as principal source of information on policies, procedures, programs and office activities. Establishes and maintains professional relationships with internal and external contacts. 3. Processes and monitors expenses and ensures adherence to budgetary guidelines. Prepares budget drafts based on existing budgets. May oversee, coordinate and/or complete applications and materials needed for grant submission. 4. Composes substantive correspondence and written material. Determines sources of data. Compiles, synthesizes and manipulates data. Summarizes findings and writes, produces and distributes reports or portions of reports. May create simple databases. 5. Provides editorial support for a journal/publication. Proofreads and edits material for grammatical and factual accuracy. Tracks copy through various editing and production stages. Communicates with authors, printers, and others concerned with published work. 6. Oversees, instructs, and coordinates activities of support staff. 7. Ensure compliance with University, Federal, and State guidelines, rules, and regulations. 8. May perform other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience Six years of related work experience, four of them in the same job family at the next lower level and a high school level education; or four years of related work experience and an Associate degree; or little of no work experience and a Bachelor degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of experience and education. </li></ol> <p>Background Check Requirements</p> <p>All candidates for employment will be subject to pre-employment background screening for this position, which may include motor vehicle, DOT certification, drug testing and credit checks based on the position description and job requirements.
