Some opportunity to assist with evening programming and events.</p> <p>Number of positions: 2 Department: 323-Career Services Contact Name: Beth Cahill Contact Phone/Extension: 610-519-6186</p> <p>Position Summary Information</p> <p>Job Description Summary:</p> <p>The Career Development Graduate Advisor in The Career Center is for graduate students interested in supporting Villanova students with their career and professional development needs. This role is geared towards graduate students pursuing a Master's Degree in Counseling, Human Resources, or Higher Education, though we encourage all applicants with relevant experience and interests to apply. This graduate student position is a paid role consisting of approximately 10 hours per week for the academic year. Successful graduate assistants are those who have a strong interest in developing advising skills, an interest in higher education and recruiting, and a passion for helping others.</p> <p>The Graduate Assistant will be involved with all aspects of the office, with a strong emphasis on taking undergraduate student appointments. The Graduate Assistant will enhance their competencies in advising and presentation skills, awareness of the career development process, and knowledge of higher education administration, career planning and the recruiting field. Personal counseling or long-term therapy is not a component of this experience.</p> <p>Duties include:</p> <ul> <li>Meet with undergraduate students and recent alumni in one-on-one career and professional development-related appointments. Advise and coach students and recent alumni on resume/cover letter building, job search strategies, professional readiness, career decision making, and interview preparation. </li><li>Conduct skill-building workshops and presentations on topics such as resume writing, interviewing, and LinkedIn. </li><li>Develop strong working knowledge of Handshake career management system, Career Connections, and other Career Center resources. </li><li>Curate content for Career Connections website and assist counselors with special projects. </li><li>Train students on the use of Handshake and other available career resources. Assist in training and supporting Career Center Undergraduate Ambassadors as needed. </li></ul> <p>Other potential duties: Aid in execution of career fairs, employer events, and additional Career Center programming and events. Assist with on-campus recruiting, placement activities, and marketing campaigns as needed.</p> <ul> <li>This position description outlines the general nature and level of work assigned to individuals who function in this job.
